well, if you're allergic to the type of animal, yes. if you can agree to disagree, then no. but make sure you can live with the pet.

I have 4 hermit crabs - Stacey, Max, Harry & Speckled Blueberry
Of course it is important for your partner to have the same taste in pets as you do otherwise the pet and the partner may not get along....I have a friend who's wifes cat uses the washroom on his pillow....NOT cool.

Uh...well, I have 5 fish, 1 dog, 1 cat, and 4 rats...um, I don't think it matters if your partner has the same taste in pets as you as long as you don't plan on marring that person.

I've a cat, tarantula, green snake, iguana, and four anole lizards. And no, it is not important for my partner to have the same taste in pets.

2 cats and one rabbit. I looove animals...My partner doesn't actually have to be in love with animals like I am, but he has to respect the fact that I have them and he has to treat them properly and he has to know that if we are going to have a future together, I am going to always have some kind of furry pet running around or an iguana (cuz I've had those too).

Four cats, but I love all kinds of animals. The only thing that's important to me is that my date be nice to my pets. I look at it this way: I'm a package deal--love me, love my pets.

I have 2 cats, 2 dogs. If your partner is alergic then yea its important, and they should also respect that you have pets and they should be open to it.

I have 5 dogs 1 Yellow Labrador and 4 Chihuahuas! Yes my bf has to like dogs too! If he wouldn't that would be a major turnoff for me! That's why I asked him that since the beginning and he's a dog lover too!
