am forwarding carpediem's post:

I want to apologize to "love" for the question she posted...?

a hour or so ago asking "who wants a religion? come here! I came across pretty harsh and I know she was sincere in her question and she has every right to believe whatever she wants. I took her question as another "prostelyzing" one and although I probably hate that more than anything else I just want to tell her I respect her faith but I'm secure in my own as well....I'll leave it at that

no thanks

The Christian belief that atonement can only be effected through Jesus runs counter to the provisions for atonement prescribed in the Jewish Scriptures. First and foremost, God, and no one else, provides the means of reconciliation and fellowship (2 Chronicles 7:14), which precludes any claim for atonement through the death of Jesus. In contrast to the Christian concept that man is hopelessly entrapped in sin, the Jewish Scriptures provide ample testimony that although man may have an inclination towards evil (Genesis 8:21) the means of personal reconciliation with God are always at hand (e.g. Psalms 51:16-19, Jeremiah 29:13).

I just have to back you up here! Taste and see that the Lord is good! God is faithful. Satan has blinded the eyes of men and women down through the years, and he suggests to us that God is a spoilsport, that God does not want the best for our lives and that we will miss out if we follow God. In fact, the opposite is the case. It is disobedience which causes us to miss out so much of what God intended for us. Come on, swallow your pride, and open your heart and mind to the gospel.

For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, plans to give you a hope and a future.

I have already given it a chance. I was a Christian up into my 20s, but even though I started out as an absolute believer, there was ultimately no satisfying proof. I am no longer religious. I'm glad it holds something for you though. We all have to make sense of this world somehow.

I love you sister but take a clue from one of the great saints of Christianity. Therese of Avila. Who said " Preach the Gospel at all times, when necessary use words".

Remember that salvation only comes by grace. Showing love and praying for people are our most powerful weapons. Trust the Lord that most people that are in here are familiar with the gospel message, at least in some form and will be resistant to it until they see love in action.

Peace be with you.

How can you help me? With what I am reading sounds to me like you are the one who needs help. I read my bible and you need to start by reading Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Until you seek God and get and get a understanding to His words you can tell no one anything

Carpedium is absolutely correct, YOU are exactly the kind of person who has gotten Christianity such a bad reputation. Believe what you want to believe, but don't foist those opinions on everyone (at least until you learn how to spell & type properly!)
