A lot of the blame can be directed towards the media, the United Nations and political action groups.

Regarding the media - review the newspaper next time there's trouble in Israel.
The slant is typically "Israel launches attack against..." or, the photo will show some victim of an Israeli bomb.
Rarely does the media show Israeli victims of terrorists attacks and if Israel is attacked, the headlines usually take a slant on how Israel is being the aggressor.

As for the United Nations, how many times has Israel needed support for wrongs done against it?
Zero.
Go to the link and read about the U.N. and Israel.
Pretty sober stuff.

Political action groups tend to favor the so-called 'underdog'.
In this case, leftist groups in America (oddly joined by some of the far-right neonazi groups) have taken up the cause to help the poor Hezbollah, who are painted as victims of Israeli aggression.

I suspect its not so much sympathy FOR Hezbollah, but more of an anti-Israel diatribe that we're seeing and hearing.

The palestinians used to rule the area now known as Israel. After world war 2 the allied powers gave their land away for them to create a jewish homestate where they could be safe. The palestinians really got the short end of the stick there.

Prior to being handed palestine for their own, there was an active terrorist network of jewish people bombing palestinians - a complete reversal of the present situation.

The islamic portion of the world has been upset about this turn of events ever since it happened. And the middle eastern masses stand in solidarity with the palestinians and any other group(hezbollah, hamas, etc.) who are specifically fighting to return the holy land back into islamic hands. The masses do however hold many different opinions, when these groups get to fighting over other details.

Tell me a single terrorist act Hezbollah did!! they are a resistance group, they resist the occupation of Israel to Lebanon. Israel still held lands it occupied since they invaded Lebanon in 1982 and when they withdrew in 2000 they kept hold of some Lebanese land and 10,000 Lebanese prisoners until now. Hezbollah attacked Israeli military targets only, including soldiers, and killed a few and captured couple of them which is legal under any armed conflict law (the right to resist occupation - like we did against the British in 1812), when Israel attacked civilian targets first, Hezbollah retaliated by firing those missiles into Israel and then Hezbollah managed to hurt the Israeli army equipped with t he latest US weapons and even Israel admits the defeat.. read :
AP : Israel's defense minister appointed a former army chief of staff on Wednesday to investigate the military's handling of the 34-day war in Lebanon as public criticism intensified that the offensive was poorly planned, unsuccessful and not worth its cost in human lives.
It was David vs Goliath and every one sympathies with the week, and children killed by Israelis as usual.
PS : to docscholl : the US always veto any slight action (even condemnation) of Israeli actions... did Israel suffer any sanctions or penalties like Iraq for invading ALL its neighbors one at a time (Jordan's West Bank, Syria' Golan, Egypt's Sinai, Southern Lebanon ... ??

They began by making an attack on an already hated nation. After attacking Israel they retreated into civilian populated areas where they knew if Israel did retaliate it would incur civilian casualties. This lead to more of the world hating Israel or disagreeing with their method of combat. Now that the actions are ended Hezbollah is helping rebuild areas which took direct hits.

Everything (and more) that you ever wanted to know about Hezbollah:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah

It's a nasty situation - Israel is surrounded by Islamic counties and, while so NOT like our country, religion and territory is the problem. It actually goes back 100's of years and is not likely to stop anytime soon.

Hezbollah has done much for the struggling Lebanon people and has played polotics very well - even denouncing what happened on 9/11. But, in reality, Hezbollah is manned by mostly iranians and Syrians and are funded by those countries and armed by them as well.

They claim to want only to prevent Israel from occupying Lebanon but - It would appear to me that they play very good regional politics in the sheep's clothing while actually attempting to spread the Islamic (their brand) way of life to the rest of the region as the wolves that we are attempting to keep from our soil as Israel is keeping them from theirs.

I think they have far less sympathy than we are led to believe on this site and the media. I suspect many of the pro-Hezbollah comments on this site are in fact from Hezbollah. Our media appears to hate America as much as Hezbollah so their "news" is a bit slanted that way.

Face it. Liberals are FOR anything that's AGAINST America. The New York Times has daily stories about how compassionate and hard working the hezbollah are.

because ignorant people only look at the fact that Israel killed so many people, and then go on defending hezbollah. Actual intellegent people who read/watch non-biased news (fox news) and know things about the war know that the reason these people are dead is because the hezbollah hide themselves and their weapons behind the citizens to make Israel look worse when attacking them, and because hezbollah couldnt care less about lebanese civillians.

THEY GOT SYMPATHY...BECAUSE...ISRAEL STARTED BOMBING INNOCENT LEBANESE...AND WHEN THE IMAGES TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD...IT GENERATES SYMPATHY EVEN FOR A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION LIKE HEZBOLLAH. THATS WHY THE TACTICS...USED BY THE US AND ISRAEL ARE USELESS TACTICS WHICH WILL PLAY INTO THE HANDS OF THESE TERRORISTS...AND THEY WILL BECOME POPULAR. ITS ABOUT TIME...THE COALITION AGAINST TERROR START USING A DIFFERENT TACTICS....RATHER THAN KILLING 'EM ALL!
