I taught my children to talk by reading to them and treating everything around them like a word game. If you go out shopping, point out things and say them in her language and then repeat in English, using the correct pronunciation. Have "only English" night at home or at dinner, where you teach her the names of everything in the room or at the meal in English. Its about repetition, you will need to spend alot of time doing this. Remember to respect your mother, at her age, the fact that she wants to learn is admirable, so be upbeat, supportive and positive. Oh and leave her notes around the house in English, stuck to everything. We did this with our children, and they have excellent vocabularies and reading skills.

Backwards....

have her teach Korean to children who don't know Korean.
She will have to explain things in English, and she will keep her language and culture connection too.

Get her some English books on Korean culture or language.

Get her involved in a Korean-American Club, some Koreans can't speak Korean but still want to be with people of their own culture, this will also be good for her.

Look for a nearby adult school that teaches English as a Second Language. Also, you can buy her supplemental CDs and books at the bookstore. Try as much as possible to expose her to English TV shows, music and reading materials.

My mom has the same problem, but she has gotten fluent with her English. She used to go to work and she slowly started interacting with people, she learned basic things and at home if she speaks to me, I'll correct her. Her problems are basically past, present, and future verbs. So I do tell her and the fastest way is to tell her to speak English at home, tell everyone to correct her when she makes a mistake. It's worked for me and still is. Try it if you can.

Take her out to the movies or watch TV with her on a regular basis. Over time her vocabulary will slowly increase.

I would recommend for you to slowly implement small sentences into your dally conversations. She will not feel embarrassed and she will enjoy learning with you.
