Why? Because these atheists think their faith is better than other faiths. Think about it...

Atheists believe there is no God.
They base this on lack of evidence of God.
Thus, they conclude, based on no evidence, that there is no God.
They believe without evidence. This is called FAITH!

So, really, all they are is another religion, trying to convert you.

Around 1000AD King Olaf of Norway decided that all his subjects would be Christian. All of the Pagan temples were destroyed and Christian Churches were built on top of the ruins. King Olaf's troops then ran amok throughout the country, putting anyone who would not convert or was found with pagan idolatry, to the sword. This is just an example of Christian expansionism. Add in the fact that the old Testament's books were decided upon by a Roman Emperor who was only interested in maintaining power of the people and you have quite a formula for anger and dis-belief. I personally cannot understand why people cannot look at the origin and history of the Bible and Christianity and understand it is nothing but Mythology.

I easily have confidence in love between a guy and a woman. Is it a interest? possibly, notwithstanding it relatively is a threat to discover of each and every thing that occurs to us in life as being area of a interest. If it relatively is no longer a interest, what's it? A burden? A challenge? an threat? it relatively is no longer purely a threat for genuine like to exist between a guy and a woman, it unquestionably occurs for particularly some human beings. what's likewise genuine is that many human beings finally end up being cynical and announcing and feeling detrimental issues approximately love. Is it love's fault, or ought to or no longer it relatively is that some human beings purely are not all that super having having and preserving relationships? From what i will tell, love between a guy and a woman can relatively exist, yet so can love between a guy and a guy, a woman and a woman and the different mixtures all people can arise with. If certainty, it must be a threat to love your self, different persons and all that exists in introduction. If it is area of a interest, i'd decide to maintain enjoying!

You may be getting flack from agnostics more so than atheists. Atheists, and there are many that I know, do not care much what your religion is, or in this regard, should not care what your religion is as long as it does not: 1) harm others 2) nor impose. It is when those two criterions are broken that most of us feel that we need to say something. I understand that this may be broadstroking as one cannot speak for all, but certainly I and the ones I know do not care what you believe in; very close to the idea of "Whatever makes you happy." Agnostics, however, I do find, tend to be more critical of either side; so the next time you encounter a badgering "atheist," ask them why they are and why they care so much about someone else's religion if they think it does not matter in the first place. If their answer is not sufficient, they are most likely agnostics. Hope this helps.

I don't believe that any atheist is trying to enact and enforce laws that will criminalize Christianity. However, Christians are trying to jail homosexuals, women who have abortions, doctors who perform them, and prevent teachers from teaching evolutionary science. I don't believe that counts as respect for others belief in any normal definition of the word respect.

While there are atheists here who behave badly, the fact of the matter is that Christians expect to be respected for false beliefs and bad, childish behavior. It simply doesn't work that way.

If you want me to respect your beliefs, get some respectable beliefs, and start behaving like an adult.

Why is it that everyone likes to generalize? Have you actually read every answer that every atheist has given to a question? Doubtful because I've not even done that myself. How can you possibly say that every atheist continually attacks christians? That would be like me saying that every christian is just like Jim Bakker; which I know to be untrue. Generalizations do no justice to anybody. Try looking at people as individuals.

The last few days have been bad but most of the Atheists in here are not mean spirited. I enjoy the dialog with them. The last couple days there seems to be a lot of kids playing gotcha in here with brand new ID"S. Don't let them get to you. Just report them and beg the Yahoo answers police to banish them to the other side of a black hole and don't even dignify their question with an answer.

May the peace of Christ which surpasses all of our understanding guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Take a few days off and relax.

"Respect me, dammit! I demand it!" Now do you understand how silly that sounds?

Paul S is right: It's not an attack to say what you think, especially in response to a question on a public forum.

If you want to be respected, learn better arguments, learn to defend your beliefs. Don't pout and whine. Grow up.

When a question is asked, and someone answers it, using knowledge, research, and fact; it is not an attack. When a person points out inconsistencies in whatever your holy book of choice may be, it is not an attack.

Yes, you will find trolls on this message board, but it is a public one, and you are always free to scroll past those answers.

I enjoy reading what others choose to share about their faith experiences. I don't find that at all offensive. Expressing your views is not the same as "pushing one's beliefs" on another.

An example. As far as I know, no atheist has ever tried to prevent anyone from posting the Ten Commandments on church grounds or other private property. But lots of Christians seem hell-bent on hanging their favorite version of the Decalogue on every public building in sight. (It almost reminds me of an animal widdling on everything to mark its territory. But the Founders intended this "territory" to belong to us all, not just the followers of Jesus.) Christians are doing a LOT of pushing these days. It shouldn't be a surprise that those who believe each person has the right to choose their own faith, or no faith at all, are pushing back.
