remember that everyone else is feeling just the way you are!
In a short time, you will be feeling at home and will have made some good friends.
In the beginning, smile a lot and be kind to everyone. Take care of your personal space, and don't spend too much free time writing home and phoning home.

i started boarding school in 10th grade and honestly the best advice i can give you is (and this sounds so played out) be yourself, but if yourself is shy then make a change and be outgoing. try not to take everything too seriously and talk to as many new kids as you can because you are all in the same boat. one thing i can say about boarding school is new kids are always veryyy interesting in the first month or so, so seize this oppurtunity and talk to people you might not have talked to otherwise because after a while people start to fall into groups and get caught up with their other friends and may not seem so interested. another good peice of advice is get involved in things around school: sports teams, a musical, activities, community service, etc. it's a great way to meet people and make friends!
