The only thing you could really do is to test the impedance of the coils with a multi meter. That would tell you what the impedance really is, and if the sub is working. You could put music into but they need to be in some type of enclosure in order to make good sound. You wont hurt them by doing that unless you really over drive it.

It wont sound good, basically nothing, the sub has to be set up for a specific box, ie : cubic inches and port size or sealed. its the pressure in the box that expands and lets air out that gives the thump and lets the sub hit, also make sure you wire them in paralell that makes double the power at less ohms, meaning if you had two 12 8 ohm subs in series you would be pushing 16 ohms and the amp works harder and the bass would be weaker than if you series wire them and the ohms woud be 4 and you can power them better and with a smaller amp to get the best cont wattage.

You can power them up .... but you wont get that deep bass without them being in a box. My suggestion is ... just wait for the box :)

Yes you can, but yes you can damage the speaker, trust me you can easily damage a subwoofer if you for example hold in steady of the plain ground and play it loud, or if you hold it by its magnet and play it, you can damage it! it will have noises later because of you playing it with no stable base! there is a technical term for what I'm describing but it escapes me right now.

properly, it wont sound like a lot, yet you may do it. merely dont crank it up, dont enable it bottom out, dont enable it play for a lengthy time period. for sure you may hook it up for a minute merely to work out if it truly works. lengthy time period, it would want to correctly be damaged, yet no longer for only a couple of minutes at low volume. imagine about audio gadget on your rear deck or in the door. they're somewhat a lot "loose air" and they are going to play fantastic continually presented they don't look to be abused. i recognize having a baffle makes a large difference, yet nevertheless.....

You're loosing more than 60% of the performance by using them without a box. It's more important than you think.
