I'm scheduled to go to work in about three hours; however, I haven't been sleeping well lately and running after a 12 mo. old all day. I did take a nap, when she did, this afternoon but I still feel really groggy and disorientated...kind of lightheaded too. Should I go in to work (it's a four hour shift) or call in sick? I called in sick last Wednesday as my daughter had a fever.

Get a grip?? I guess that I should also add that I am partially disabled and get tired easily. I work part-time, in retail which can be very demanding especially with back-to-school, to try to earn a little extra money for my daughter.

I think you should try to stick it out. If it's only a few hours it might actually give you an overdue break from her. Go in and see how you feel.

Lack of sleep will cause someone to feel lightheaded and disoriented. Feeling groggy is a permanent problem with parents of toddlers. Personally I think you should go to work. Why? Because you will be interacting with ADULTS for 4 hours and not a 12 month old 24 hours a day. It is easy to "lie". You should try to give that a rest. Calling in may only get you an unemployment check if you quit---but you won't get zip if he can show you didn't go to work and lied about why you missed your shift.
Get up and go---you'll feel better about it.

I think you should eat something healthy and full of protien and go to work. Try to take it easy while you are there...let your coworkers know you are not feeling your best.
I am suggesting you go because with a little one, there will be many more days when you can't even decide whether or not you should go...you will have no choice. You are the baby will be much sicker and you will have to stay home. Don't use up sick days today.
Hope you feel better!

sound like your really lazy person. Like you said you had nap and now your tired again. Tired from doing what Cleaning, Ironing? Seem to me you look for excuse all the time to avoid work. It only four hours work, love see you do eight hours shift work. Wonder if you could survive it?

Yes, you should go to work. You are not ill, and it is a very short shift. It would be dishonest not to. Why should they have to scramble to find a replacement for you? Man, I wish I could tell all the patients, "Sorry, but I had a nap today, and it wasn't long enough. I'm not coming in."

If I were you, I would go since it's only a 4 hour shift and you called in sick last week already.
Have some coffee and take a shower! That will help.

Its only 4 hours and i know what a pain it is when you get a large sick leave record. Have a strong coffee, work, then home for some rest.

if you begin to make it a habit, and calling in two Wednesdays in a row is the signs of a habit, then you are greatly risking your job or at least potential for increases and promotions.
if you don't value your job, then stay home.
but if you do value your job, get up and get going.
sounds like you might be having a little depression going on there.

Drink some coffee and take a thirty minute nap. You'll wake feeling refreshed.

As a former supervisor of lots of people, I agree with origtwan. It would appear that a habit is forming and that is a dangerous appearance to create.
