He is a kid- I think all kids go through this stage. They are usually scared the soap will get in their eyes. Tell him if he looks up when you rinse his hair it wont get in his eyes.

Chances are he doesn't like the soap getting to his eyes .. even the kandoo brand shampoo still stings kids with sensitive eyes.. my daughter had the same fear when she was much younger and it all comes down to how you do it actually

When washing your son's hair instead of having all the water hose down on his head and run the soap through his eyes 'n nose etc try laying him down on the tub but keeping his head above the water supported by your head .. THEN use the wand thingy and wash the hair and he'll feel much better because there's no soap irritating his eyes and he is in a comfortable position and the best part is no need to close his eyes because he can open his eyes and mouth to speak to you :) that's the key btw to keep talkin to em .. keeps them distracted enough for you to give them a good wash :)

Good luck :)

Kids are incredibly quirky creatures, thier likes and dislikes change all of th etime. It is probably just a phase....
Are you the only one who bathes him becasue perhaps once you or someone got some soap in his eyes or something that bothered him. There are 2 routes you could go here and it is up to you and your parenting style.... you could assure him that the wand thingy is still ok and try to get him to relax ad just do it...OR you coul dcater to him and use a different method to wash his hair...(Mine went through it and for a few weeks I used a cup instead, but I kept commenting on the wand thingy, stating that it is for big girls...one day she told me she wanted to do it the big girl way)

toddlers often get little fears and worries...its a trying time....washing hair can be very traumatic as they haven't got a lot of control...my son hated the shower head thin and it was a daily grind getting his hair clean...it seemed to last forever but didn't really last that long....my mum suggest giving him loads of bath toys that sqirted and poured water and he played about with these ...he had a little watering can that he used to water his own head with...whil he was doing that i was round the back with the shower doign a more thorough job...it worked...with a few blips here and there he got over it....by the time he was a teenager it was hard to get him out of the shower lol

Hopefully no one spritzed him in the face with the thing or used it when the water was too hot or cold. Try some other way of washing his hair. Make a game of it and teach him that water is fun.

they just do... even at 4 my son gives me a hard time...
you just have to put up with the sceaming...
make sure you have baby shampoo... and keep a towel on hand so he can wipe his eyes after...
limit to doing it once a week...
but he will go through stages like this...
maybe even try cradling him in your arms and lean over the laundry trough and do it their,,, i think they may feel insecure oabout their balance when having to put their head back in the bath

At that age they have their -izms which might last a few days or a few weeks - he'll get through this one. Don't worry if you see this happening - next week he might be afraid of sitting on the toilet - maybe you can wash your hair when you're washing his so that he sees it's ok.

WELL HE IS OLDER AND HE REALIZE THE WAND THING IS FREAKY!! TRY JUST SCOOPING WATER TO WASH HIS HAIR>>I REMEMBER MY SON FREAK OUT WHEN I PULL THE DRAINAGE PLUG IN THE TUB OUT. HE THOUGHT HE WAS GONG TO BE FLUSHED DOWN THE DRAINAGE.....

I THINK THEY BECOME MORE AWARE OF CERTAIN THINGS THEY DEV ELOPE FEARS! JUST GIVE HIM A CUP TO SCOOP and wash his hair...KIDS HATE HAVING SOAP AND WATER DRIPPING DOWN THEIR FACES!

KIDS GOES THROUGH PHASES...
