At that age, my kids liked shape sorting. You can buy tubs or canisters that have different-shaped openings--square, round, triangular, rectangular--that they put things of the same shapes in (sorry but I can't remember what they were called). I think the company The First Years made them.
They liked anything with bright colors and movement.

at that age my son was very much into music, i bought a small cd player for him and made him listen to nursery rhymes. he especially liked nursery rhymes with animal sounds in them, like old mc donald. you can also buy those books that has a "press on" function which give off sounds of certain characters in the story book.

blocks and cardboard boxes. also crayons. i dont reccomend anything battery powered or something that does what it does simply by having a button pushed. those cause laziness.
