I have this girl that I am friends with, and she used to be incredibly flirty until I backed off. She thought I was mad, so I said I was not. Now, she is being flirty again, and I get the message! My problem is I want to tell her what I feel. I feel I owe her an explanation for why I backed off, and I would also like to tell her that the door is open for a relationship. I also want to convey to her that she does not need to say anything while I am doing it. She can think about it. Another tricky thing is that we are magnificent friends, and I do not want to mess up the friendship. How can I do this and keep a delicate balance?

Tell her why you backed and tellher that you don't want to do anything to mess up the friendship. She may have the same fears.

You never know what may happen. My husband was my best friend - still is and we are making it work.
