Pit bull definatly! They are soooooo sweet! You can find them in almost every pound so you can always find them. They are such loyal dogs they would do anything for their owners so the owners are stupid not the dog. Learn about the breed and trust me you'll learn that they are some of the best breeds!

This could be anything. Golden and Labrador retrievers are good natured family dogs, but are larger, so require more space. Australian Shepards and Border Collies are very smart, but if they aren't given training, they will get bored and find ways to entertain themselves (often times their owners don't find this so entertaining). Boston Terriers are smart, low maintenance, and smaller. The list could go on forever.

Think about your home (large dogs require lots of space, small dogs, not as much), climate (short-haired dogs don't do as well in colder climates without jackets), family (some dogs are better suited to single owners), and how much effort (or money) you are willing to invest in grooming. Find a dog book, search the AKC website, or go to a dog show and meet different dogs and their owners.

Good luck!

Honestly, I like Pit's, Rots, and Shepards, or any mix of the three.
People say that Pit's will turn on you, and they have lock jaw. Any dog will turn on you, and NO they dont have lock jaw. Their grip is really tight. People with the jaw disorder TMJ have LOCK JAW! The persons Jaw actually locks. It has happened to me.
Rots are protective and so are Shepards. They will protect the children of the house, and the older members as well.
If you are going to get ANY breed of dog I would suggest that you know the people that you are getting it from, and you know the mother and father dog.

The best dog to have is the one you love. It really does not matter if the other people like it or not, if there is a dog you see and you feel its perfect for you go for it. For example I have two dogs that I rescued from the streets and they are ADORABLE, they have no pedigree and things like that but I love them and they are the best dogs for me. It might sound funny but usually dogs rescued from streets (like the ones that finish on shelters) are so grateful because you gave them an opportunity to live and to receive love that they are so lovable, educated and excellent with people when they start having confidence that no one will hurt them. (Confidence start with you giving them love)

My dogs. both mixes. a pomeranian/poodle (Tammi)and a heeler/terrier mix. All her life, 5yo Tammi has been offered for if "I want to keep her", I was humorously offended.. WHO said I was offering?!
My advice is go to a pound and try some out in the play yard. A mixed breed is always best.. then problems and temperments of any one breed are not an issue. Pick the one that best suits your family. We can't tell you that. Just give you advice and suggestions. Best of luck.

i grew up around Labrador Retrievers. they are excellecent dogs. they are very easy to train. very good with child, behave around other dogs, and are protective of you and your family. if you want one they can be somewhat pricy but they are worth every penny. be prepared to exericse daily. if you want i good family dog get a female they are calmer. Labs do shed a lot.

I love my pitbull! She's great around everyone.

It's not the dog, it's the owner.
