Yes....a certain amount of tax is necessary but our taxes are spent on so many wasteful programs, ie, pork spending. The government is out of control with their wish list that I'm expected to pay for. I could go on and on cuz this topic gets my dander up but I think I've said enough for you to get the idea of how I feel!

I believe the income tax, which was suppose to fund world war 1 and never repealed, should be eliminated. I think those people that make over $100,000. or more per year should be taxed a flat 10% and big corporations 25%. The little guy and the self employed could then afford health insurance.

Lower taxes? No. Initiate a fair tax, yes. The main problem is spending. It needs to be cut really bad. I like Bush, but someone needs to break his check writing hand.

Government spending should be checked. "Pork projects" which benefit only a local population should be funded by local taxes, not from the federal government.

With elimination of such things, perhaps federal taxes could be lowered -- after paying off as much of Tyrannosaurus Debt as is practical.

No, we've lost or neutered enough social programs.

Instead, we should give the government the ability to
fire people who are no longer required or who are doing
their jobs badly. This would allow less money to do more
or the same amount of money to do MUCH more.

The United States has the least taxes per capita of the
industrial countries. No wonder we are falling behind in
education, technology and medicine.

The best economic plan at this point would be to freeze EVERYTHING. No new taxes, no increases in any funding, no new tax breaks. Leave everything exactly as it is for five years and see what happens. In fact, freeze ALL government, no new laws, send Washington home.

Yes, only for this reason... because our tax money is being used for nonsense. It's going to helping the Israel & Leb. war, it's going into stadiums being built, it's going towards new bridges that we don't really need, it's going towards more and more things that I didn't agree too in the first place. They should raise taxes if it was to help the education system, to help build more real jobs for us americans, to clean up these dirty cities & suburbs, to pay teachers more, to make a change from gasoline to something more useful to run our vehicles with less emissions & to get more milage out of them, if they were to fix the court system, and help out the poor & unforntunate more then I would be all for it.
