Even if we wanted to put people in jail forever for a terrible crime, we couldnt, they would eventually die. However, God, through his convienient devil proxy stuffs us in hell for an eternal torturing.

We dont get 100 years of hellfire scortching, which would be horrible if you think of it...we get eternal hellfire!

If this isnt the most obvious remenant of simple manipulative gimmickery from the state or authorities of the elder day, I dont know what is...

What an absolute stupidity hell is...what could be more unjust...would could be more horrible....

"God doesnt do it, you do!" >>> What a loud of crap! If God exists, he is the creator of all and nothing happens without his permission or design! Certainly such elaborate machinery, beyond Hitlers wildest dream, would require real design and thought.

What an absolute absurdity and stupidity the myth of hell is..

Believing you can make wings out of garbage bags and fly. That would be pretty dumb.

I agree. The idea of an everlasting hell is an unspeakably cruel idea. And some even believe you'd go there for simply not believing a certain faith.

It's yet another example of the terrorist mindset found in the Bible and the Koran. Just think of the story of Noah's Ark. It's supposed to be a sweet children's story--but it's the tale of God wiping 99.99% of all human beings and animals from the planet. And God is love?

Fortunately the God of the Koran and the Bible--as with any other depiction of God--is just someone's idea of God, and probably falls far short of the mark.

You are obviously in hell with all of your hatred, fear, and disrespect.

I would rather look around me and see all of the great things we live for. Every person in every religion (almost) has moment of happiness. There is no greater feeling for me when I make the woman I love smile. When I go through a hard time and get through it I become much stronger. When I honor my parents they are proud of me.

Some people need to believe in something to help them discover this sense of selflessness, determination and respect. So what if somebody made up the boogieman when you were a child to help you live a happy life. does that make them stupid?

So you asked what could be dumber than believing in hell, How about not realizing you are already in heaven.

Dumber? Perhaps a belief in eternal Heaven! Why would God give you an eternity of bliss based on just a lifetime of obedience? Doesn't that sound grossly unfair?

If you were God, and had created a person who came to hate you and was ungrateful for everything that you did, wouldn't life with that person be unbearable? Wouldn't you eventually have to push that person out of your life forever?

Put another way, if a person truly hates God and his rules, isn't an eternity spent with God in Heaven simply another form of Hell? A person who does not like his creator will eventually be unhappy anywhere God puts him.

...................................................................
Hell is God reluctantly granting non-Christians their wish.

Ultimately, life and every desirable thing comes from the God who created every molecule that we see, feel, enjoy and misuse. Even sin’s fickle pleasure, that elusive shadow of the real thing seized while defying him, is possible only because the Son of God lovingly created his haters with the ability to experience pleasure.

Non-Christians push Jesus aside, yet in his extravagant love Jesus keeps giving and giving. They don’t want him meddling in their lives, but he keeps forcing himself upon them, showering them with gifts of life and pleasure. In hell they finally get their way. To be granted separation from the Source of every good and beautiful thing, however, is a terrifying prospect.

A different view: In the western world the concept of a God of love pops up so often that we forget the source of this notion. The only way of truly knowing that God is love is through the revelation of Jesus and the Bible, both of which lovingly and emphatically warn of hell’s grim reality.

I don't believe in hell. Not because I believe I lack any faith or because I don't fit in with modern Christian precepts, but because...well if you read the Bible, it says that two cities went down into hell: Soddom and Gommorah. Yet the remains of these two cities still remain in this reality, on this plane. How could they be in hell? I believe hell is the grave....physical death which does not cause the spirit/ soul harm. Second, and I apologize to those who read this for it will anger you or hurt your feelings, but considering who printed our latest version of the Bible, and their track record, I believe that hell is a tool of indoctrination... a tool of fear to make it easy for a few to rule the many. Your sins will lead you to hell. Wrong! Yes, there is the natural law, that what you put out into the world will come back on you, but not as punishment, but as a lesson to help you over come your character flaws which drive you into physical, mental, emotional, spiritual dis-ease.

Nuff said. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I try hard to be careful with my beliefs, and they are just that, and I acknowledge I may be wrong.

Couldn't agree with you more. Hell is the grave Matthew 27:60
says Jesus was in the tomb the grave Acts 2:31 says he was in hell. They use a story in Luke to justify it and it was only a story.
about Lazarus and Abraham and it was talking about a change of circumstances. Would a man go to hell simply because he was rich? or a begger simply because he was poor?
And no one had been resurrected from the earth to heaven at this time. Because Jesus was the first to be resurrected from earth to heaven so he could be first in all things. And he was talking. acts 26:32
Churches use this because to scare people of hell gets them more money. Women will pay anything to get their dead husbands out of pregatory. They know how mean they were so figure they are in pregatory. they cheat this widows with this teaching.

The torture & hell you give your poor, ashamed parents is the 'free-will' of a whiny, priviledged spoiled child.

Read the Bible..."God is Love!" Get the message, grow up, act right, go in peace!

What is dumber than a belief in Hell?
Answer - NOT believing in Hell, when it does exist!

You are right - Hell is the ultimate suffering.
You say that nothing happens without God's permission. True. However, God also gave us Free Will. We are allowed, by God's permission, to choose to love Him or choose to reject Him. When we choose to reject Him, we choose the alternative. It is simple.

Want to avoid Hell? Not believing in it is NOT the way. Believe in God, and in Jesus, the Christ. Amen.

Say your son gave his life rescuing someone from a burning building and later that day your son died from burns on h is body. The person he saved never acknowledged what your son did or thanked you . Would you be mad? I think so.

Wow. You sound awful wrapped around the axle for a guy who doesn't believe in Hell. I don't believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster but you don't see me ranting about it online. I feel sorry for you. You must be scared.

Got any Bible verses to support that contention?
