My husband and I started out planning a HUGE wedding. We got way too stressed over it and decided to go away and have a really small wedding on a tropical beach. IT WAS THE BEST DECISION WE MADE! It was gorgeous! Then we came back to our home town and had a very large reception. We got more stressed over the reception, than we did the wedding. I would not have changed a thing. We even saved my parents money by going away to get married. I highly recommend a small wedding, and a big reception to share with your families and friends.

well it depend on the available money..if u r not rich enough..or u would using the money in something more useful why u have to make a big wedding..if it's okay with money i'm sure that the middle of anything is the best thing..so niether big nor small wediing are good the average wedding will be very okay.....and i think that the most important thing at the wedding that everyone get out from it happy and wish for bride and the groom happy life......i prefer to save the money 4 the honeymoon and travel at any foreign country u wish go and spend a joyful time.....believe me big weddings without happiness,it's unuseful,no one would remember it............good luck

OMG I am so glad that I had a small wedding. It was close friends and family, about 75 people. It was great. No one argued about who would be invited and how things should be done, unlike what a close friend of mine is going through it is a big wedding, 400 people, and there are disagreements between bride, mother of bride, and mother of groom.
I just think that a small wedding is more intimate and you have time to enjoy your guests.. Sometimes with a big wedding you are either so busy trying to get to all your guests that you can't enjoy yourself.

My wedding was a small but beautiful wedding. We invited my and his family. We also invited our real close friends. We were only 45 people. We had champagne, a nice dinner and music. If I rewind time, I think I would do the same party and invite the same people.

No doubt about this, small weddings are so personal, my husband and I only had 2 guests and it truly was the most perfect day of our lives, if we could go back 7 years there isn't one thing that we would change about it. It was pure bliss.

I do wedding photography & I've done large & small weddings, me personally I would love a small wedding but living in a large family it would be impossible to have a small wedding. So basically you would have to consider your family sizes.

What is really important is what is it going to cost---and who is going to pay for it.....u don't want to be paying for your wedding 20 yrs down the road!!!! not even 5yrs down the road!!!!
as for the size of the wedding??? versus the reception....are u meaning how many to stand up.....???
once again---who is paying for the dresses....???? and tuxes...???
you know they will expect to receive gifts from the newlyweds for their role in your wedding.....can you afford it....???
the ones who witness your vows should be those who are for your marriage....and really have a close relationship with the 2 of you!!!

Neither one is "better". It depends on the tastes of the couple getting married, and the amount of their budget. Big or small, all that matters is that the bride and groom are happy.

i think that going to the justice of peace with a few family members and then throwing a party is the best way to go. you don't have to spend 100K to celebrate your marriage. i'd use the money to have a fabulous honeymoon. =)
