Well, I am going to keep an eye on the answers for this question. Sounds like camelot or something. I honestly never heard this before and I have been a christian for over 10 years.

Ya know, the Romans speared all those that were crucified. I was told it was kind of an act of mercy since it took so long for people to die on a cross. Now, I only heard that......don't quote me.

Actually, it is supposed to be the soldier who beat Jesus, telling Him to prophesy who it was who hit Him. The centurian who thrust the spear into Jesus' side is the one who affirmed that Jesus was the Son of God. Besides, when the spear was thrust into His side, Jesus was already dead (the spear was confirmation).

And to directly answer the question, I have not seen him.

I just want to point out, the spear in Jesus side was not what killed him. So while the fable is interesting, its not accurate. Jesus died before the spear pierced his side.

There used to be a fictional book series about a soldier named Casca... try there.

Quote from Volume 1: Eternal Mercenary -

'I know you, he whispered silently within his brain. I know who you are. There have been legends written about "the one who must wail." I know that you are him, that you are the one who waits for the Coming. Yes, Sergeant First Class Casey Romain, I know who you are.'
