It depends on the dog. Some will run to the door and then you, and back to the door. Some will just look at the door. It will be easier if you train it to do what you want. Ask him if he wants to go out and then make him bark at the door before you open it. He'll get the idea to bark when he wants the door open. If you talk to your dog like you do a person, he will learn to understand lots of what you say. So ask him if he wants to go out! He'll let you know! Best of luck!

Dogs, esp puppies, have to go at certain times; after they get up from a nap, after they eat, after exercising, etc. So, after these activities, take rover outside to use the facilities.
My pup starts to circle and sniff the ground when he needs to go. However, he also does this when he's settling down for a nap.
A great trick for getting the dog to tell you when they need to go out is to hang a bell by the door you use to go outside (it helps to use the same door most or all of the time). When you go outside take your dogs paw and touch the bell. After a while rover will start to ring the bell when s/he needs to go out.
Hope that helps and good luck.

Watch and see if the dog keeps going to the front or for barking. If your dog is not house trained then put some newspapers on the floor in some room and your dog should be house trained in about a week.

My dog almost always let me know when he needed to go. In the morning, if I didn't get up, he would take my covers. If I was playing a game, he'd sit in front of the TV and stare at me. Some times he'd just go and sit by the door and look at me, and nuzzle his leash, so it would rattle

My dog goes to the door when he has to go outside. A friend has a bell at the front door. And the dog rings it when she has to go out. Good Luck

Most dogs that need to go will come to you fussing a bit. My parents dogs know what 'outside' means, and if they need to go when someone says that word, they'll get a bit hyper- not very, but a bit.

He will usually start walking around in a circle very purposefully. Get him outside or to the newspaper fast.
