I'm a healthy, happily married atheist with 2 beatiful healthy, smart, wonderful children. I have a great job and everything has gone very well for me in my life. I have no need or urge to find Jesus. I see terrible things happening to praying, devout Christians every day. How can I be so happy and satisfied without Jesus/God.
Please don't tell me I'm going to hell when I die. I'm not 5 years old, so that doesn't really scare me ( I don't believe in hell,)

You have learned to love yourself independently of all others, including God. You do not feel compelled to seek unconditional love from others...even if that love is in the form of an imaginary friend like God or Jesus.

I think that spirituality is a matter of the mind not a matter of a fact. I have noticed that people look for a Savior only when they are down and out and are looking for some kind of redemption. I have teeter tottered a lot about my religious views and have found that I believe that science holds just about every answer that I have looked for. I do believe that Jesus existed and that he was a good man. I wasn't around his time so I can't say that he was a real miracle worker. I can say that I too have a great family and we live happy healthy lives. I can not understand why people look so hard for answers in religion when if they just looked at their family they can see the true wonder and beauty of life.

Since, we all have share of happiness and share of sorrow, i think u are getting all the happiness in this world, and maybe sorrow in the Eternal HereAfter. I want to Invite u to Islam, research abt it urself and find out The Truth, if u want to talk to someone abt Islam, contact me at askabtIslam@yahoo.com. Hell is No Joke, if u dont believe it, it doesnt mean that it doesnt exist. Its like, scientist didnt use to believe abt planet xena, but that didnt mean that i didnt exist in the universe. Heaven and hell Does exist Believe It or Not. And, its also not telling a 5 yr old abt Santa or tooth-fairy. Its serious stuff, so u do urself a favour, and Stop kidding around and Get Real, and Research abt Islam from Authentic Islam Books and Sites.

I'm glad your life is good, but what if something tragic happened to you? what or who would sustain you? Anyone can be "happy and satisfied" when things are going well. It's during the darkest times in our lives when most of us realize how lost we are without God. If you have any time to read( as a mother of two small boys- I know how it is!) Check out "The Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel. Mr. Strobel is a former journalist at the Chicago Tribune, and is also a former atheist. If you're right and there is no God, then it won't hurt you to check it out! right?

I have seen terrible/tragic things happen to wealthy/middle class and poor people who aren't Christians, I have seen them get sick after being healthy for decades, have their kids go astray or die tragically,or commit suicide or on drugs etc.... these things can occur to anyone in life at anytime.... (am a healthcare worker for 10 + years.). I don't know if your life is as you say it is.... I just know from the vast number people I have met in my career ... they weren't all that happy and satisfied with their lives and I have taken care of people from all walks of life.... many of them weren't Christian.... the other thing I learnt is the average person in America dies broke... the wealth is held by less than 10 per cent of the population.
The other thing is this, I don't want you to be scared into making a decision about salvation.... I rely on the Holy Spirit to draw you and convict you of sin(that's his job), it may not happen right now but at sometime of another you will be faced with the conviction.

scott, honestly review your perception on life for a minute... why is something good or bad? if there is no further meaning in life, if there was no bar to judge things by, how is something less than another? If we are only living to please society, why are you not giving to the point of suffering to help others? If we are here only for ourselves, why are you not killing anyone that gets in your way? Or taking whatever you want?
You could say that you don't do this bnecause it is wrong... but why woud it be wrong? Because society says it is? You do not strike me as the type who would worry what society impresses upon your mind. Why do you do the things you do, and why is it good?

Well Jesus is soverign and he gives us free will of choice. You choose not to serve him and yes you are living your life and that is fine. You feel happy and think that your life is great, but if you would allow yourself to encounter the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords than you would Know what your missing and you would find out that your life isn't that great at all. Jesus came that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Jesus suffered, bled, and died for our sins, so we wouldn't have to go to hell and burn for all eternity. He loves us so much that he wants that none of us should go to hell. Hell was created for Lucifer and his demons only and because Misery loves Company, Satan is trying to take as many souls with him into eternal damnation. So you have obviously made your choice which way you are going and that's fine. Just be ready to accept any and all consequences in the after life. I love you with the love of Christ and May the Lord have Mercy on your Soul.

Oh yeah, and the reason your life is so pleasant is because Jesus reigns on the just as well as the unjust, that's just how GREAT he is, so compassionate, Jesus the lover of my soul.

i doubt it has much to do with any religious thought as it does
a personal state of happiness. just as it is easy to say that
there are issues in the 'church', so too can someone claim
that there are godless heathens out there ruining it for the
god-fearers. its a toss up.

personally, its much easier because you don't have to give
an account of anything. why blame/give credit to something
that ultimately has no responsibility. =P
