I heard that if a nuclear device goes off in the Northern Hemisphere it wont affect the people in the Southern Hemisphere because they are seperate systems.

Bull.... you've been watching "On the Beach" again.

If a nuclear war happened in either Hemisphere, it would eventually effect the other Hemisphere. When Mt. St. Helens erupted, the dust from that vocano eventually reached the Southern Hemisphere... I think it took several months, but eventually it got there.

What IS different is, the rotation is opposite for high and low pressure areas in each Hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, a low pressure system rotates clockwise and a High Pressure system rotates counter-clockwise. In the Southern Hemisphere, the rotation is opposite.

In the North, cars pull to the right, in the South cars pull to the left. In the North, the water in a toilet rotates clockwise and in the South it's' counter-clockwise.

It has to do with the Earth's rotation.

bullshit. Ok if its a small tactical nuke, then sure. If its a clean nuke then sure. If its a small dirty nuke... parts of the fallout MAY reach around. Its all about wind currents, and water currents. If the nuke is big and dirty enough, they its very likely that it will somehow contaminate the opposing hemisphere. Especially with all our strange accelerated weather patterns lately.

Think of your question economically. If North America, Great Britain, and all the other major players in the northern hemisphere were affected by a nuke or nukes, and our infrastructure/government/way of life fails?

It would be a blissful disaster for the others. Fortunate and unfortunate at the same time. There are people that are really wishing for WW3 so we can go back to the stoneage and ride around in horses and buggies..
