Why do people call others against illegal immigration a racist?

Ive been called closed minded and racist just for stating my opinion about illegal immigration. Im all for immigrants coming here to make thier life better. I am just against the ones who do it illegally. How am I racist? Im concerned about issues that can affect my country, and me personally especially diseases that illegals can bring here if not checked before entering the U.S. I personally don't have any issues with those who come to America Legally so how am I a racist? Some of these illegals have had no background check, and Im just supposed to be happy about it? Im sure ill be called a racist again for posting this question but please tell me why?

You're not a racist. Illegal foreigners know that they are committing a crime in our country, that's why they sneak in. Their supporters know this too. It is for lack of a better argument for their case, that they use the race card.

You're only called a racist when you are viciously and exclusively attacking a particular race, in this case Hispanics, just because of their race, the color of their skin and the stereotyped images created by the media. If the issue of illegal immigration arises, there has to be an understanding in the culture of the race and experiences they are going though. Some of these people are forced to leave their country because their situation. They have no choice. So understanding their situation and then trying solve it would make race relations easier.

As far as solving the illegal immigration problem, the government needs to work with the other country (Mexico, for example) and try to work out the situation.

There is that wonderful catch all believe all word again, Illegal.
The conservatives only constraint on behavior is advice of their lawyer. They can steal water for the rice farmers in the valleys of California at the expense of San Pablo Bay and the fishery. They weaken mine safety laws in South Carolina according to what their lawyers say, and they weaken food safety laws with their lawyers assistance, but the word illegal is like a mantra as if ever twist of their moneyed leveraged favors from business is a totally honest thing to do.
They are spitting out the word "illegal," all over the place, but remember Delay under indictment, Rove being investigated, Libby indicted, Iran Gate unforgiven, Water Gate felonious, Willie Horton false advertising and the Swift boats for the truth had nothing but absolute distortion of the truth.
Some not guilty yet, certainly not illegal in a Republican dominated government, but unethical, dishonorable, inappropriate, dishonest and manipulative which are all good legal tricks for the Republicans unless they get caught.

My grandparents, on both sides, immigrated to the country legally. I'm all for legal immigration, but illegal is illegal. Would any other country on earth let people just waltz in and begin collecting government benifits? I dont think so. These people do not pay taxes and do not deserve to live in this country, none the less cost the government money. Come here legally or dont come at all.

That is ALL they have. they thought that you would run, or lose the courage of your convictions if they falsely accused you of racism. they are wrong. you stick to your guns and tell these illegals to get out. Wouldn't you laugh at a person in jail telling you that you made no sense because you were lost in the euphoric world of freedom? In the 4 months I have been here i have seen that illegals and their supporters will do and say virtually anything to try to make you step back from your righteousness. But they are learning that you have the backing of ALL governments in the world that have borders they want respected.

Liberals want anyone to be able to come into this country and receive any benefits they want, for free. Well, free means I have to work and pay taxes so I can support illegal immigrants.
Liberals feel that anyone who isn't a liberal Democrat is a racist. When in fact, we're just trying to protect our country and keep it a good home for legal residents.

I agree with you, im all for LEGAL IMMIGRANTS whos backgrounds have been checked out, their medical records up to date, and who will not be a burden to our society.Why doesnt someone look up the immigration policy of Mexico and then talk to me about UNFAIR POLICY.....on just legal immigratnts alone we take in more than every country in the world combined so dont give me that crap! I would expect ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD INCLUDING 3rd world countries to make sure they checked those things on me before they allowed me to immigrate into their country!

Because they're not educated enough to come up with anything well thought out. My ancestors were legal immigrants and I have no problem with speaking out against illegal immigration. It's not that hard to become a citizen or legal resident. If you want to come into this country as a criminal be prepared to be treated like one.

Because they won't shut up long enough to listen. Also they have to be able to speak english first. Most of us don't have translators to help them interpret what we say. I could care less if people want to come live in America BUT do it legally. Learn the language and keep your customs but DON'T take mine away from me because they offend YOU. We are all ancestors of immigrants but now you have to do it legally.

Oh and if you come here make sure you have enough money to support your own family. I'm tired of supporting them. Its hard enough to support my own family without having to pay for yours.
