Sometimes i have a hard time figuring out if i'm hearing God's voice or just me or the devil. If God is speaking to us isn't it going to be subtle and isn't it going to bring relief and peace? What if it just continues to make you feel down, anxious and confused? Would that still be God or Satan or maybe just fears and too many thoughts? I experience this a lot and it has only made me very, very confused and anxious. Also i have talked to many respected Christian friends and they really don't think God speaks to us like that. What do you think?

Awesome question, um im 16 and i had problems with that too, Sometimes i would talk to myself in my head and think it was god, and you can never stop talking in ur head so it gets confusing because ur trying to listen to see if its god talking or is it you talking to yourself. I know ur pain, but if these voices are making u feel down and in pain, its satan, i would pray over that tonight. for realz. For me, when got talks to me, i feel it as somebody is trying to tell me something but i dont hear it but i know what to do for some reason. but yeah there you go! lol be blessed later!

God speaks in many ways, and it is not always what we want to hear. He can tell you things that you aren't going to like. The only guideline I can give you for this is that He will never ask you to do anything against His will. So if it doesn't agree with His word, then it isn't God.

And now for a relevant CS Lewis quote..."Whenever we find that our religious life is making us feel that we are good--above all, that we are better than someone else--I think we may be sure that we are being acted on, not by God, but by the devil. The real test of being in the presence of God is, that you either forget about yourself altogether or see yourself as a small, dirty object. It is better to forget about yourself altogether." (CS Lewis "Mere Christianity")

I'd want to know what the voice is saying to you, especially if it makes you feel anxious and confused. How long have you heard the voice, and how old are you now? If this voice continues to speak to you and make you feel anxious or confused, I'd strongly suggest that you contact a mental health clinic, and ask for an appointment to speak with a therapist. I'm certain the therapist can help you with you're concerns, and you'll learn from where the voice is coming. Good luck to you!!!

If you feel peace it's the voice of God and if you get anxious it's probably the evil one, even if God can make you nervous sometimes too. But most of the time it's just your own thoughts.
Sometimes it's hard to judge the spirits.

I had the WORST time with this too.

John 10:4
When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.

It wasn't until I truly emersed my life in the word that I could differentiate God' voice over my own or the devils. I was typically the voice of doubt, satan usually use temptation tactics. God's voice brings peace when I hear him communicate to me. There is a sense of direction. The more you devote time in the word the easier it'll get to recognize His over the committee in your head.

God bless you.

im a christine. have been all my life. and im sure the God would never speak to anyone like that. He loves us all very much and cares for us. He would never ever put anyone down by voices.

i think that your letting these thoughts get to you. you must be depressed or getting there. dont let yourself get that far. please.

take care of yourself. keep yourself strong. anytime you think negative thoughts always turn it into something positive, like:

if you sad you dont have a job, dont think that your hopeless and lazy and worthless. always say to yourself that you will find one. God has the perfect job for you put aside. He has your future planned out and you shoudnt worry about it.

focus on the present and make yourself better. stop thinking negative thoughts. Jesus loves you and cares for you and He will take care of you. Just think positive.

Whats making you think these thoughts?
Family members and friends put you down?
Going through something horrible in your life?
Sad times?

Dont you worry. You are going to be okay. just think positive and dont let any negative thoughts come toward you anymore.

Remember, Jesus Loves you.

Satan is described as the Father of lies, and he also is one who accuses. The Scriptures tell us in Romans that it is the kindness of Christ that leads us to repentance.

Satan will try to oppress you.

When God Speaks:

1) It is always in accordance with His word.
2) It brings glory to Jesus.

**My encouragement me to you is that if the enemy is attacking you it means your doing something right for God.

i hope this helps and if you want to give me a more specific situation i'd love the help, nicksterlee@yahoo.com

hope that helps,

Nickster

p.s.: sorry gotta cut it so short- got to go eat lunch-- hungry and i'm diabetic!!!

If you're hearing voices in your head, it's time to see a therapist.
If you're trying to interpret events or emotions as signs from God or Satan, it's time to start thinking rationally.
Take things at face value. They make much more sense that way, and you don't need to buy into the delusional invention known as religion.

I don't think God or the devil can speak directly to you. Its all you and your own conscience. In my experience God speaks far more indirectly through providing you with opportunities or allowing you to witness something that you can learn from.

I asked this question as a child to my father. He answered me this way. You have a pet cat, Cinder, and if you call him does he come? I said yes. He asked, if I call him or your mother calls him, does he come? I said, no...he only comes when I call him. He said, thats the way it is with God. Jesus said, "I know my sheep and my sheep know me." You will know his voice but you should also spend time getting to know him better. Also, a good standard to use is, whatever you think about that is being "said", does it give Glory to God or does it satisfy a "need or desire" of yourself. Remember this, the common thread of each and every Saint is HUMILITY.
