I agree with the previous posters, of course you're going to gain weight when you're pregnant. You're growing a child who will be somewhere around 7 -9 pounds when it's born (if you're lucky and don't starve it first). Plus your blood volume doubles, you retain water (hello swollen ankles) , there's the amniotic fluid, and your body starts storing fat reserves so you can make milk for the baby after it's born. That all adds up to 20-25 pounds. The good news is that if you breastfeed you will lose all or almost all of it right away. I only breastfed for a short time and I still was back down to my prepregnancy weight by about 2 weeks after my daughter was born. The bad news is it's not all about the weight/number on the scale. Your abs will get all stretched out from carrying the baby so even though you may weigh the same as you did b4, you're going to have to put in some work to get those abs toned up again. But I'd still rather have a big ole gut and my beautiful baby than have perfect abs and a sick child. Good luck to you.

It is important to follow a proper diet and exercise regime as prescribed by your doctor. This is for the health of your developing fetus. If you try to lose weight while pregnant you can cause health and mental retardation problems in the baby, even possibly cause a spontaneous abortion. If you really have a problem with your self image you should talk to a good psychotherapist as well. It is better for your mental health and the subsequent attachment to your baby if you can resolve this before the baby is born. You need to learn to like your body as you develop the baby inside --even if you become quite large. If you've not had problems before, you will probably be able to regain your sexy figure a few months after birth, after you have weaned the baby to drink formula from a bottle. Trust your pediatrician. I suggest that IF being skinny and sexy is so important that you are more concerned about that than about the baby inside of you, you should get a tubal ligation afterwards so you'll never get pregnant again.

You are NOT supposed to diet while pregnant! It isnt good for you or the baby. Because you are pg, your body needs more of everything to support both of you. You will feel full and swollen until after you have the baby. That is the time to get on an exercise routine. If you healthy meals throughout the day (my dr told me 6 small ones) that contain fruits, veggies, yogurt and things like that, and get plenty of sleep, walk or swim, you may feel a bit better.
You will HAVE to buy new clothes because you are pregnant. That will happen each and every time that you get PG. Just be patient and once you have your little bundle of happiness, you can get back to being the woman you want to be.
But do not diet. If you are totally concerned, just ask your dr and what are their recommendations for you.

Ask your doc what you should eat to make sure the baby is healthy. It's normal to gain 25-30 pounds while pregnant. You're going to feel fat for a while.
Just keep exercising, like walking, so you stay in shape and losing weight after the baby will be easier.

You really shouldnt be worrying about weight loss right now. Sounds to me that you are starving that baby. When you hinder your weight gain, you are also hindering the baby's weight gain. When the baby doesnt get enough nutrients from what you eat, then they take it from what your body has stored further wearing you out. Also, do you really want a tiny unhealthy little baby to take care of simply because you need to "feel sexy" again? Think about the little person inside of you who didnt ask to be here. They are growing and that is why you are gaining weight. Its baby, not fat. Get over yourself.....

Well, first of all, let me tell you how selfish you're being to your baby. The baby takes what it needs from YOU, regardless of what you eat. Think you're unattractive now? How will you feel when you lack the vitamins to keep your own body going, and things start to happen like extra hair appearing in the shower drain? Think you'll be cute bald?
Ever wonder why you're not feeling 100%? Perhaps it's because you're not getting the vitamins that YOU need to function. The baby might be born fine, but then again, maybe the baby isn't getting what he/she needs either, because Mommy is so selfish that she's worried about her girlish figure.
Frankly, I'd prefer a healthy child to a lovely body any day of the week. If you feel differently, perhaps you should reconsider motherhood.

Well, its long understood that when you experience a tragedy in your life you loose weight. Imagine what will happen to your baby when its born undernourished, that will be a tragedy. Stop worrying about loosing weight. Concentrate on eating plenty of healthy meals through out the day and you will maintain a healthy weight during your pregnancy, the baby will come out healthy and strong and it will be easier to loose the weight after.

You really should not try to loose weight while you are pregnant.Gaining a couple pounds is only natural and you don't want to harm your baby. After the baby is born you will have plenty of time to get into shape again. Most people have no idea how much you have to run around when you are taking care of a child.

You're pregnant. You are supposed to gain weight. But if you are really worried, walk every day. That's good excercise for not gaining too much weight and the excercise will make delivery easier also. Good Luck with your new baby!!!
