Send the JDB a debt validation letter. Send it certified mail return receipt (paper trail)

When you get the green card back, send a dispute to the bureaus. Pick something that they have placed on your reports that is a violation (trust me, the violations are there)

If the JDB verifies with the bureaus before validating with you, that is a violation. Keep records of it.

If they verify, and if they eventually send something that looks like validation (but probably isn't) then do the process all over again.

If the JDB continues, file complaints with the BBB, FTC, your states attorney general and their states attorney general.

Refile your dispute with the credit bureaus. Include copies of your complaints with your dispute.

If the JDB continues, you will have enough violations (and the proof if you keep records) to file suit against them and the credit bureaus. File in a higher court so you can receive up to $1000 per violation instead of filing in a lower court that will give you up to $1000 per action.

Be sure to check the statute of limitations (SOL) for collecting in your state. Make sure you are out of, or close to being out, the SOL.

Echo is right, do it, it will take time but if it gets off your credit report, then well and good.
