Saturdays are best because people can travel without missing work, however they are more expensive. June and August are the most popular months (and the most expensive). Holiday weekends are tough because people have plans. I'd say look at your budget and your schedule-- how soon can you possibly get married (you'll need at least 6 months to plan)? Then go through the Saturdays until you find 3 that work (no major sporting events, holidays, birthdays, or work events the next week (honeymoon time)). Check with your parents and his parents and your bridal party for any conflicts and then go to your church/wedding location and reception site to see which one works from there.
My wedding date will be sometime between May 15 and August 15 because both my parents and my future in-laws work in higher ed and would have time off to help plan and come. Likewise, most of the people in my wedding party will still be students and couldn't help before mid-May. We are thinking mid June or early July. These dates have no significance in our relationship, however it is the date that works the best in our family's lives.
Good Luck!

If money is an issue.....You should stay away from all holidays. Even ones like Memorial Day, or July 4th. People make plans in advance and may opt not to attend your wedding, given a choice.
Friday & Saturday nights are BIG wedding nights and vendors know this. And so do some Officiants. If you check out their prices, you will notice that some increase their price during those days.
An earlier Saturday wedding would be good.
There are more brides getting married on Sunday than what there use to be. You can't have a really late reception, though. And it may hinder your out-of-town guests. But if everyone is local there shouldn't be a problem.
There is also an increase with brides getting married on Thursday nights. I don't have a reason for that.
And if it is a small intimate wedding, without a big to-do, any night of the week would be good. In fact, I'm performing a wedding next Monday.
May thru August are THE wedding months, June & August being the top two with September about to join the ranks. These months will also cost you more to wed.

Depends on what the deciding factors are...
Cost?
Location desired?
Where you are located (geographically) - in the Northeast, May/June and Sept/Oct are the most expensive months for a wedding.
Do you have a lot of out of town guests? if so, Saturdays are the best option for travelers. But they are always the most expensive.
Do you like the heat? If not, don't get married in the heat of the summer! It can get hot in a dress/gown and a suit/tux!
Are you in an area that gets a lot of snow in the winter? If so, a winter wedding date could bring worries of a snow storm or blizzard.
Is the bride or groom a big sports fanatic? Do you have to plan around the World Series, or Masters Golf Tournament, or Superbowl??? Sounds crazy, but lots of people are fanatics and if they miss a playoff or championship game it could make for a miserable evening (for you and your guests missing the game!)
So many factors decide what is a good date or not.

One that is significant to you and your fiance'. My husband and I chose the day we met to get married on. It could be that, the day he proposed, the first time he said he loved you, whatever, just a date that is special to the both of you.

Holidays can be bad, but they don't have to be. Any day that both of you are happy with is a good day. My spouse and I chose Christmas Day.

august... and i think saturdays are the best. it's harder to have sunday weddings because of the guests. if you have a lot of them traveling from out of town, saturday would be better.
