My dads get fed twice a day, morning and evening, with a whole can between 3 of them.

Twice a day is fine depending on the size of the bowl, anything more than three and it is going to get fat. But cats are resourceful and you're not in a totally urban area he might be catching birds or finding food elsewhere so if he starts to gain weight jsut cut back a bit because he might be getting it elsewhere. Still feed him though so he stays with you.

If its dry cat food, I would leave it out once a day. I feed my cat every morning with 1 cup of IAMS cat food and it last him all day. But he's only a yr old. It really depends on each cat.

I don't know about all cats, but I have two at home. Both of them are good at regulating their diet. We just fill the bowl to the top and they eat however much they want when they want to. Since I'm sure cat food gets boring after eating it everyday, they don't exactly pig out on it. Both cats are skinny and fit, and there hasn't been any reason to limit their intake.

I've read a book tht said you should feed a kitten three times a day and a cat two times a day. First I thought that it eats more when it grew older, but they dont.

I feed my cat twice a day. He meows for his first meal as soon as I get up. Can I sleep in? Never. Then I feed him again before going to bed.

I have a self feeding bowl for my cats, I just fill it to the top, and they eat when they want. I usually refill it on the weekends.

I have three cats. I have three bowls of dry food filled up everyday and leave it on the floor so they can eat whenever they choose. My cats do not gorge themselves, they eat little amounts of food throughout the day.

I feed mine soft food in the morning and they always have hard food in their bowls so they can eat whenever they choose.Plus always lots of water :)
