Make a deal with them - show them that you are responsible. Tell them that you will do all of your chores without being bugged for the next month or two - dont complain, do it without having to be reminded. That will go a big way to show that you will be committed to taking care of an animal.
If thats not enough, ask if you can get a fish - show them you can take care of the fish for some time - if you can keep the fish alive, I would think this would go a long way to convincing your folks.

And what happens when you leave home? Do you have the patience and time to train him? Vet bills are also very expensive. Dogs need many shots and a lot run into health trouble. Make sure you have thought through everything first.
If you want your parents to know you are serious, go to the library and check out some dog books and read them (and take notes). These will help you decide what kind of dog to get and how to take care of him. You can also point out other areas where you have shown responsibility (do you train for a sport, or have a job, or do well in school?)

I agree with the others. Prove that you are responsible enough to handle what your parents already expect from you, and they might be convinced that you can handle the additional responsibility of a dog.
Also, I proved to my parents that I was ready for my pets by reading up on them and doing some research beforehand. When I wanted a parakeet, went to the library and read up on them first. I was to young to do that when I got my first dog (I was 4 years old) Hehe. Back then I convinced them by sticking a shoelace down my pants (it was supposed to be my tail) and acting like a dog. I also refused to eat at the table. I would eat off the plate on the floor like a dog would. Eventually, I wore them down. When they were convinced it wasn't a phase (I asked them EVERY day) they finally got me a little mutt of a puppy.

Show them your responsible and you do your homework and do your chores and all that stuff. also walk around with a stufed dog and pretend its real. give it pretend food and everything even take it for a walk outside. Also do lots of reaserch on dogs and tell your parents tips on dog care that you learned. talk to people who have dogs and get tips. Also do a fundraiser for a local shelter, that helped me out alot. if your parents say no dog at all respect there answer and dont get mad, that will show them that you be able to get a dog. keep doing these things even though they say no. that should show them your really intrested in getting a dog when your older and its your choice. good luck!

Ok this is really dorky but it worked EVERY TIME on my parents. (I wanted a dog too btw)
I made a big poster presentation with all the info they would want to know. Like the cost of food, etc. How much the dog is. You better be paying for it yourself cuz that will help ALOT. Anyways - Posters, and then I dressed all business and sat them down and gave them this big speech.
Its super dorky, but my parents always felt that with all that effort and how funny it was that I would go to such lengths they let me get one (but I had to pay for everything!)
GOOD LUCK! make sure you are extremely educated on everything you need - THEY WILL ASK QUESTIONS.
Also works with getting out of trouble (groundings, and going places, etc)

Well, you need to do your homework and chores to convince your parents. And taking care of a puppy would be hard work too.
And training it. if your parents wants to see websites here: http://nextdaypets.com http://puppies.com http://petfinder.com http://akc.org/breeds
Hope I helped!!! :)

proove you are responisble enough by doing all your homework on time, doing your chores, etc. get on their good side- don't argue with them, and stay cool even if the heat builds up.
