Changing your Windows XP startup sound is actually quite simple.

Save the sound file to your C:\ Directory, then click on the start menu, then Settings, then Control Panel. In the control panel, click on Sounds (& Audio Devices). Click over to the Sounds tab. In the Program events window, scroll down to Start Windows. Click on Browse, then navigate to the C:\ directory and choose the sound file. Click on Apply, then ok.

Restart your system to test

yes you can change it. Go to the Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices. Clk on the Sounds Tab on top.
Read the window. You can change all sounds here and get a sample before you apply it.
