Maybe you should bring it to the attention of teachers, counselors, other friends who care, and the principal at your school Bring up the topic to your parents and siblings.
This is a growing and continuing problem that should NOT be ignored! Self mutilation is wrong & it could get worse! It may often lead to thoughts of suicide or hurting others. If it bothers YOU, YOU need to step up girl and do something about it.

Oh Wow. Is this college students we're dealing with here, or high school? Because in a college envirnment, the campus assumes that you are an adult already and doesn't need to play the parent when it comes to personal matters like these. I think its called "sans paritias" or something in latin. Anyway, in
highschool is when the public health administration even bats their eye at this sort of thing. It would be rude of you to say anything directly or point it out or be vulgar. They're just showing off and following a stupid "feel bad for my pain" phase made popular by those twerpy emo kids.

A lot of teachers don't want to get into it, so they just pretend not to see it. Teachers legally have to report if a child is being abused, but they don't have to do anything if a student is abusing him or herself.
Its hard to know, though, really. Maybe these kids are going to a therapist or a doctor and their parents don't know what else to do to help them.
There's really nothing you can do, which is sad. You might be able to go to a school counselor and tell him or her what you saw, but they will probably not do much. It sucks, but schools these days find it easier to turn the other way than to actually help a lot of kids.
Its nice of you to care, really.

It's just a phase leave them be unless they commit suicide it will be too late to do anything. When I was a teenager in high school lol we had few goths and no emos some skaters and stoners lol which is the phase road I took. Anyways most people grow out of it so I would not worry about it. Goths and emos who cut themselves thats their thing that they do just like jocks and preps who play sports and are more popular then others....It's their thing and thats what they like to do so leave them alone.Everybody has to fit in somewhere so be glad that whatever clique your in your not cutting yourself.

Just because the teachers are not openly questioning him does not mean they have not been in contact with the students parents. If you did something stupid, would you want it discussed in front of your classmates or in the privacy of the front office?
Now days this carving is not self mutilation as they do not intend to really harm themselves as much as decorate. Stupid but self expression comes in all forms now !

teachers technically cannot do anything about stuff like that. It is their choice as horrid as it sounds and I don't think much could get them to stop.
