I had a friend who used methadone to help detox from Heroin. It was a long journey, and at the end of the methadone treatment, she still suffered withdrawl and became "ill".
But it did work for her.... unfortunately, she relapsed 3 years later...Heroin is something i wish we could un-discover

Methadone only works for heroine and similar opiates - there ARE other detox drug therapies out there, including cocaine. These therapies range from slow weaning to placing the patient in an outright coma for a couple of days and putting the person through a massive and dangerous all-at-once detox.

I had a boyfriend who used heroin and he tried the methadone and it didn't work. It's not really a detox program it's more of a replacement for the heroin. I think heroin is the worst drug to try to get over, the person needs a very strong support system and the detox should be medical. Good Luck to you.

Just opiate drugs--heroin, morphine, etc.
What it does is prevent the cold turkey effect of opiate withdrawal, without giving the effect of the drug, thus allowing the user to function. Slow weaning off can then begin.

Methodone is approved only for opiates. Crack cocaine is the hard road of cold turkey.

that stuff is for weening people from opiates, I don't think it'll work for coca based drugs. Ask a doctor to be sure.
