When the rolls come in packs of 9 it's known as a "deficit of bunnage".
When the dogs come in packs of 10 it is called "excess weinerage".
They want you to buy 10 packs of buns (90) and 9 packs of hotdogs (also 90).You are then "franquilized".
These are United Hotdog Industry Standard terms.

Here the hotdogs come in tins of 8 and rolls come in packs of 6. Weird.

However, the real question here is why on earth would anyone want to eat such processed junk? lol

Seems to me that tins of ten makes more sense so I would
ask the packers. But, if I had to guess, I would say that it
is a sales gimmick so that the packs appear cheaper than
they really are. The other way around also works as you
cannot see through the tin and judge what you are buying,
so they throw an extra one in to please your wallet!
You should stick to what you know is the better and not
try to speculate.

Buy the bun length hot dogs which come in 8-packs and the 8-pack of buns. I've never seen 9-packs of buns.

The extra hotdogs are for you to eat whilst buttering the roll and putting in the mustard of course.

My buns always come in packs of eight, but I have kids who don't use buns, so it all works out in the end. I try not to stress over the little things.

i was going to ask the same quesiton the other day when i ate a hot dog for lunch....

however, after i thought about it i realized that it just makes more money for the companies that produce those products. if you perpetually have an uneven amount, then you will buy more!
