A couple of suggestions. Don't spend the money. Wait for the title to show up in a few weeks. Unless you want to provide a bill of sale to the new owner and do a release of liability form, I would not allow him to operate the car. You are still responsible until the above is completed.

If they have the car then you definitely want a bill of sale with the date the transaction took place, the purchase price and all parties concerned signatures. This way if they get in an accident or do a crime in that vehicle you have proof that you sold the vehicle and the car was not in your possession at the time.

Write out a bill of sale date it and both parties sign it so if they have any accidents you are not liable
