How would you dress him? I mean don't you think all the robes (bed sheets?), silk shoes, gold chains, elaborate poofy hats and nautical ropes (belts?) are kinda silly? Does he wear hand me downs from the previous Pope?

I'd take him to WalMart and dress him in all the latest fashions there--he'd be stylish *and* thrifty! Then I'd encourage him to enter his new look for the $100 gift card, which would certainly save Vatican City a little money and divert the faithful's contributions to helping the poor or something.

I am a minimalist... personally I think Jesus probably wore simple plain clothes... and I'd probbaly loose the flashy silk flowing stuff and come up with something plainer.. He still needs appropriate clothes for happy and sad events and for diplomatic purpose

definiately the big M that JP II had as a Mary maximalist... I would put a bug J in its place for Jesus and lose the M ....pllleeeeeeeze

something that reduces the gap between church and laity, possibly an emblem on it saying 'you are a holy nation a royal priesthood' refering to all believers...

possibly on another thing something saying 'you are living rocks being built up for a holy temple' also refering to all believers

most likely to keep the focus on Jesus and not a Jesus substutute there would be minimal statues of Mary and the Saints, in place might be scripture references to their stories?

I like the Pope's clothes. They make him look very Pope-like. I doubt that he wears hand me downs from John Paul II, b/c I'm sure they were a different size, but maybe that was a pre-requisite to becoming the new Pope.

I can't think of a Pope in jeans & a t-shirt w/ flip-flops. But maybe that would make him more hip w/ the times.

The catholics wear the robes because it's easier access than by wearing pants, especially where altarboys and nuns are involved. The day they give up the robes is the day they allow married priests.

i don't think he wears hand me downs from john paul II, and i also think he is fairly stylish as high catholic clerics go. i mean, how many popes would openly admit a preference for prada shoes, huh? the last pope preferred doc martens. i also like the way he gets old stuff out again that hasn't been worn for hundreds of years, that's way cool. and of course he has started employing other clothes shops from the traditional vatican one. naw, he's alright stylewise, what else would you expect from a pope who drives a golf in his personal life.
