My sister is pregnant, and has decided on the names she is going to call the baby.
If its a boy, she'll call him Jaden Brice, or if she has a girl she'll call her Naomi Sofia.
The thing is, the proper pronunication of Naomi is Nay-omi, which she doesn't like. She wants it pronounced Nie-omi, so she has decided to spell it phonetically, and Nyomi seems to be the best way to spell it.
However, she doesn't like the way it looks spelt out. Are there any other ways you could spell it, and still have it pronounced Nyomi?

There is NO correct spelling of a name.

Remember: EVERY single name which exists today was made up by somebody in the past. People today continue to make up names for their children, and there is nothing wrong with that. So why not make up a new name; An old name with a different spelling?

It's called being creative!

I like Nyomi. It's better than the common Naomi.

How about the Niomi?
or Nihomi?
or Nighomi?
or Nyhomi?
or Niyomi?

Good luck.

There are a million ways to spell any name: Neome, Neiomi, Nieome, Nyomei, Neyeome, Nieyomie, Nyomy, Nyiomee,
Niy-Omi Ietc. it all depends on what you think looks best she will have to say her name to people once she gets older so pronunciation really isnt a big deal. God Bless

I think Nyomi will still get pronounced as Naomi, but one of the other spellings that Whooblue suggested might work better

with your spelling I still pronounced it Naomi - the Y can have an A sound to it. Don't do something that is so different that the child spends it's life correcting people on the pronounciation of it's name and always having to tell people how to spell it. It's really not a nice thing all your life

You can spell names anyway you like. My granddaughter is called Leoni but i dont think she would have spelt it how it was pronounced. (Lee-oni)
Naomi, Nayomi, Niomi, Nyomi they all say the same thing, once people get to know your daughter when she is born they will know her name anyway cos you will be telling them and not writing it down.

You could replace the Y with a J and tell people it's the East European spelling LOL... (J is pronounced Y in Slovak)

Personally, I would not name my child Naomi. But to each his own. I think that you spell it Neomi or Niomi or Nieomi. I does seem kind of strange when typed and written. If you sister wants more advice you or her can e-mail me. GOOD LUCK!!
