I am looking to buy a racing bike for serious fitness purposes.

EBay, sorry to say, is about it, could try Craig's list.

For new you pretty much have to go to each manufacturers web site.

I know with the Internet people want to do it them selves but bike shops can really help especially if you are going for an upper end bike. Visit many shops and try many bikes, then look them up on-line for spec. comparison. I would really urge you, if you are buying new, to buy from the shop. You may get the "lowest price" on-line but "lowest cost" will come from a shop and there is a big difference. The pennies you save on line will cost you dollars later in many ways.
