Judas betrayed Jesus to be killed for their sins. If Judas hadn't done so, the crucifixion would never have taken place, thus no modern religion very loosely based on his life and teachings.

There have been many people throughout history and even today who are/were much worse off than Judas so it doesn't make sense to single him out. But he is the most popular, being that he knew Jesus personally. And alot of them feel the need to be self-righteous by choosing a scapegoat.

None of us know who does or doesn't go to heaven or hell. Jesus will be the judge at judgment, and He will judge with His heart. I've always felt that Judas was just as repentive as anyone else, maybe even more so, so its very possible He'll be right up there with Him.

On the other hand, after the crucifiction, they replaced Judas, so it doesn't necessarily mean that he's one of the 12. That's something that we simply don't know.

You need to remember, after Jesus was killed in such a horrible manner, the diciples all blamed Judas, and their anger comes out very strong in the new testament. I really think they were so angry, they didn't care whether he repented or not. I think Judas got a very raw deal in the new testament. It was men who wrote it, men who spoke with the diciples, so while they bible is completely influenced by God, some parts of their individual feelings come out.

There's a difference between being sorry for what you did or being sorry for the mess it got you in. Judas was the latter - he was only sorry for the mess. And where is it stated that Judas will be in heaven? And no, Jesus was the Savior regardless of what Judas did...

Regarding the Matt verse: Jesus' promises are conditional upon humans' choice. Judas could have chosen to be in heaven, but God isn't going to force anyone to be there that doesn't want to be.
You can read in Acts 1:12-26 how Judas got replaced.

Mat 27:3 -
Then Judas, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself - This shows that Judas did not suppose that the affair would have resulted in this calamitous manner. He probably expected that Jesus would work a miracle to deliver himself, and not suffer this condemnation to come upon him. When he saw him taken, bound, tried, and condemned - when he saw that all probability that he would deliver himself was taken away - he was overwhelmed with disappointment, sorrow, and remorse. The word rendered “repented himself,” it has been observed, does not of necessity denote a change “for the better,” but “any” change of views and feelings. Here it evidently means no other change than that produced by the horrors of a guilty conscience, and by deep remorse for crime at its unexpected results. It was not saving repentance. That leads to a holy life this led to an increase of crime in his own death. True repentance leads the sinner to the Savior. This led away from the Savior to the gallows. Judas, if he had been a true penitent, would have come then to Jesus; would have confessed his crime at his feet, and sought for pardon there. But, overwhelmed with remorse and the conviction of vast guilt, he was not willing to come into his presence, and added to the crime of treason that of self-murder. Assuredly such a man could not be a true penitent.

As for your comment on the 12 watching the twelve tribes, it would be helpful if you provided book, chapt, and verse. I would think that Jesus, in His foreknowledge, knew that Judas would betray Him and be replaced, which he was.

You have much to learn yet, young one.

I never said Judas is in hell. No one knows where Judas went, theoretically, if he died after Jesus, and repented his sins, then he would be forgiven and allowed into heaven. I don't know why you have heard so many christians say that, but that shouldn't be an excuse to stereotype christians, thinking they all think that. Obviously you don't think that, so not all christians think that either.
