Bush didn't say anything about the war being over. He did say that this war would take a very long time and our soldiers would not be coming home for some time. I can kind of understand why we're there but some of our soldier only get 6-8 weeks training before they go over. How come it's taken all this time and their soldiers that are being trained still aren't ready to protect their own yet?

Can you believe that he believed that the War was over? My God, how is that going to look in the History Books. On the Deck of the Aircraft Carrier, Bush faints.
Fade away.......

You have been wondering this for 3 years, huh? WOW you are a long time idiot! The MISSION accomplished banner was hung by the people on the aircraft carrier because their MISSION was over and they were returning to port. George Bush claimed the MISSION was accomplished while he was talking to a boatload of people who's MISSION was accomplished.

No he didn't say the war was over; he said the mission had been completed...meaning what the troops were focusing on at that moment. To free a nation from a terrorist like Sadaam Hussein who had killed many of his own people and to help them fight terrorist groups in their country and then set up a democracy takes time...a lot of time and a lot of successful missions.

the weird thing about it that theres so many that say that when he was on the aircraft carrier that he was only referring to the mission that the crew on the carrier had fulfilled... the funny thing is, however, the media never SPINNED IT THAT WAY...the president never said the mission that the carrier was on had been accomplished, he just said MISSION ACCOMPLISHED... lets not travel into semanticshe never said "OPERATION (FILL IN THE BLANK) :mission accomplished"... the media was ALLOWED to publicize that the complete missin was over and that everything was fine... unfortunately for Bush, the people of Iraq had other plans

No, the war isn't over in Iraq. No, Bush didn't say the war was over. What he said was "Mission Accomplished," referring to the mission to topple Saddam Hussein.

Yes he did in May 2003! At the end of Iraqi Operation Freedom, the war started by President Clinton & ended by President Bush.
Nice try, but read & think at same time - I know it can make some people's head hurt, but try anyway.

Technically yes its over because they removed sadam, however they have not got Iraq into a state of peace and now it is spiraling towards civil war so actually the war is not over.

Actually, if you cared for facts (you don't) the 'Mission Accomplished' was in regards to that carrier group and the fact that major military operation were over because the Iraqi army was no more.
Stop making it into something that never was. If you have to lie to support your views...
