B.I.B.L.E.

I've repeatedly heard idiots claim that is stands for "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth"...

If that's the case, it's a horrible manual to live by.

Lol, that is a pretty dumb and oversimplistic acronym. However, that was even a dumber accusation against and assertion of the Bible that you made. Check out for yourself whether it's reliable and trustworthy without bringing in any preconcieved notions.

It never was an acronym. The acronym is a cutsey thing dreamed up by fundamentalists that worship the bible.

It's a word of latin origin meaning BOOK. Which is what it is. A BOOK.

The zealots are just trying to come up with catchy little phrases like that to attract new blood. Kinda like "WWJD?" What I don't get is why they don't see this sort of thing as a cheapening of the message.

Apparently this is a song and movie as well. I Googled it and was amused/horrified with what I found.

Yeah, yeah - go ahead and hate on me, Thumpers. Like I actually give a rats a$$ what any of you have to say. If I cared I would have shut up by now.

It's obvious that those people have seldom visited a bibliotheca, much less are bibliophiles....
Challlenge them to make an acronym for "new testsment"...that should keep them occupied for quite some time....

It is understandable, though.....it helps them to remember how to spell the word......

i have never heard that saying, i to tell you the truth, it is not meant to be a manual on "how to get to heaven." it is the story of God and his creation, and the relationship between them. dont look at it as do's and don'ts, but as God's interactions with creation.

I don't know. I think it's a good idea to free Hebrew slaves every 7 years, and I mean come on, who wants to boil a goat in it's mother's milk anyway.

The word, "Bible," isn't an acronym. You've been misinformed. Look it up.
