More places will be closed on Sunday... but it's not that big a deal really... it's mostly neighborhood places that are closed, and the touristy places are still open. All of the plays, museums, and big shopping will all be open. Small boutiques in SoHo or the village might be closed.

It depends on the time of year, the weather and where you're going.

Sunday is best, but things tend to close earlier.

Stores, museums and shows are more crowded on the weekends, and more so on Saturday.

Just arrive at your destination when it opens first thing in the morning and you'll have the place to yourself for a couple of hours.

Some parts of the City are desserted on a big holiday or summer weekend, especially the Upper East and West Sides, because locals go away. Times Square stays the same-- crazy as of lunchtime. Locals tend to procrastinate going out if the weather is bad.

But NY's not like DisneyWorld, where you live for lines; take a breath and join the crowd.

New York is a 24 hour city so it doesnt really matter. If you are young and really love the club scene, Saturday would probably be a little better. But for overall tourist activity each day is about equally as good. Saturday night would probably have a little more nightlife, but again Sunday would have plenty as well. Its a toss up.

Things are still open on Sunday and it is a little less crowded, but not my much. Things are more relaxed though. Don't worry, there is ALWAYS a resturant or club opened in nyc.

Depends on what you want to see - most part weekends, but libaries, museums and such would be easier on the weekdays; party and such would be weekends.

Sat/Sun are basically the same in NY, no difference. Sun are a bit tamer, but every night is not "tame" compared to anywhere else.

Either. I like to arrive Friday afternoon and leave Monday Morning. NYC is the best.
