We have visited many other cities in England, Oxford has beautiful buildings and gets a great many tourists, but the cleanliness of the city centre is disgraceful. Bins are always full, pavements strewn with litter, aproach roads to the city untidy and overgrown I wonder what the tourists think.

It's not just Oxford. Bath is a real mess - bins full, rubbish sacks left outside shops/offices/homes, food waste all over the pavements, frying fat from takewats bubbling up through the drains.

The residents hate it even more than the tourists do.

i walked through oxford last new year's day and i didn't find it dirty at all. i walked from the train station down botley road all the way to the mcdonald's going out of town, then back and down the other way, it may have been the same road, not sure now, and then down a wide road for just pedestrians that had a very busy starbucks and a discount book store. don't remember the names of either of those streets. anyway, all was clean from that perspective. did i miss something?
