So, not really autistic, but she is just kind of in her own world. My family jokes that she's "special", and she really is. My other pup Bailey is very aware and dependent on us, but Rylee who is now almost 5 months, is well, kind of spacy. I don't know how else to describe it. I'll just find her sitting outside staring into space sometimes. Other than that, she's a normal pup, playing with Bailey and she loves us. When we go to the dog park, she'll play with the dogs, and then I'll see her just running rampant by herself. I love my special little pup!!! Does anyone else have a "special" pup? :)

This is entirely possible. I don't have "special"
pup, but I know that there are many of them.
Just give yours plenty of love and attention and
both of you will be fine.

"Special" dogs and "special" people
make the best friends.

Animefan141 has the same thought I do.

It could just be a thoughtful, gentle temperament (awwwww) with a little more independent spirit that Bailey.

It could also be a sign of petit mal seizures.

I'd wait and see since Rylee's so young - she's probably just fine and a little different in a special way.

Best wishes

My dog Marlowe is a coonhound and he's very independent and has his own agenda. At the dog park, he likes to run around by himself, or just sit quietly next to me, while his big brother socializes and acts like the Mayor of Doggie Town.

You might think that Marlowe is spacey and dumb to look at his behavior, but he's actually quite intelligent with the right motivation. He doesn't do things just to do them, he has to have a reason--and it had better be a good one! Otherwise he'll just stand around and wait for something to happen.

Some dogs are just independent. It's a big misconception that all dogs just hang on the words of their masters and want nothing more than to please you.

I have a cat like that. She sits in the corner and stares at the wall. We always tease her when she plays with the other cats and tell her "Don't forget your helmet Cleo!" :)

you cant really tell with puppys. puppies are usually always in their "own world". when he is an adult, then he should get more normal. but it is possible for a dog to be slow.
