when i say "average", i mean whats the average price, not like, "average quality/ability photographer." i want quality first, so what is TOO expensive and what sounds about right? I have found one who will do it for 1500. that includes meetings, 300+ proofs, and amazing photography (he owns the private manor we are getting married at)
does that sound about right?

£1-2 grand seems about average - you don't want to be stingy on the photography budget.it depends how many prints you get though.for example,my chosen photographer has packages starting at £600 and goes all the way up to £3 grand PLUS he will also do 'parent albums' which cost an additional £250/60 for each album ordered.i'm also saving a bit by not having the 'getting ready' photos done your friend just needs to make appointments and see what the photographers will do.its more about finding a photographer you like and can afford.you get what you pay for and if you pay 400,then expect some not so great photos

I am paying $1500, for mine. Good quality photographer and I get a digital CD with all the photo's of the weeding so I can print them off at a later date. I would say $1500 is a fair price in a non-big city area(Ex....New York, LA)

I paid $850 for 6 hours, two 100 print albums, one 250 print album, engagement session, and engagement album of 35. We also get a CD of all the proofs with copyright release so we can print our own if we want. Of course, I live in Kansas so prices might be a bit lower but we haven't gotten them all back but the photographer was excellent and i loved her work

Remember that no photographer considers themselves average. You are going to have to call around and get quotes. Make your own decision based on the information you get.

My photographer charged $248 but that was back in 1995. We kept the proofs we were able to make copies from them because our photographer didn't copyright the pictures he took.

I have been shopping around for photographers in the Boston area, and for a good photographer, I am expecting to pay around $2000. Don't skimp on the photos... you want those to be great so that you can treasure them forever! Congrats and good luck with your wedding!

Depends on photographer's honesty. We charge $365 for 24-30 photos and up to $1,200 for 200 photos.

We are just about to pay for ours, and we're get that at $800. We live in the KC-Metro area, and we had to HUNT for them.

If you don't like the price, ask if they will cut something out. Are the online proofs REALLY necessary? That cd of proofs? You can't print them. They are just for your viewing enjoyment. Forget making your own cheaper prints. Most photographers will create something just for you.

You have to stern, but don't forget your manners. Also don't forget that you aren't trying to get their business. THEY are trying to get YOU to invest in THEIR business. They may be nice, but they are still business people. Don't base it just off of that.

Research and interview. The best advice I could ever give.

(i got a photographer who does small, short weddings for 250$)

i'm not spending 2,000$ for my entire wedding in Oct.

You should expect anything over $1000. Simply shop around and compare. You'll find the best price eventually.
