In this provocative, critically acclaimed documentary, you will discover:

The early founders of Christianity seem wholly unaware of the idea of a human Jesus

The Jesus of the Gospels bears a striking resemblance to other ancient heroes and the figureheads of pagan savior cults

Contemporary Christians are largely ignorant of the origins of their religion

Fundamentalism is as strong today as it ever has been, with an alarming 44% of Americans believing Jesus will return to earth in their lifetimes

And God simply isn't there

Whaddya think?

Dear Journey: Before I ever accepted the figure of Jesus or the idea of Christianity I spent five years in the library studying the following: Ancient History - Archaeology - Philosophy - Greek Mythology - Religions of the World - The Historic Jesus and His Times - The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire - The Dead Sea Scrolls and many others. All the books I could get into - in those Categories.

After reading through a book documenting the life of a Jewish man who took on a Roman name - Josephus Flavius, and who had been a General in the Army of Galilee and - more importantly - had been born AROUND the time of Jesus' final days on earth -I enjoyed Josephus' writings and his one commentary that spoke of an historical figure he had known of - Jesus of Nazareth.

The importance of Josephus is that it is known he was actually alive at that important juncture of History when Jesus' existence is not able to be historically documented by anyone else - outside of the New Testament. In other words, there is no historical, or scholarly writings about the Historical figure of Jesus. There is only suppositions.

The writings of Josephus - pertinent to Jesus - has been criticized over the years as having not been genuinely written by Josephus. However, MOST RECENTLY it has finally been decided amongst scholars that at least part of what was written was indeed by the hand of Josephus.

In this book, one paragraph says that Josephus had heard of a man, named Jesus. That many people of that era had gathered to listen to Him and see His works. And that His teachings were causing some fervor amongst the people.

This means everything to Christians! The book is well worth reading.

I then turned toward the Old Testament - the New Testament - the Talmudic teachings - the Gnostic Gospels - The Reformation, and various accountings of people who had had experiences that - Jesus was central in: For instance, an explanation by a Jewish man who had been in Hitler's Concentration camps! He lost his entire family and was spared, himself, in the camp. His Apologia or Explanation about Jesus is heart wrenching as he explains he survived due to a sudden relationship with Jesus, Who he says had entered into the minds of people - within that camp - and showed them how to survive. This man was a Jew who did not believe in Jesus until the Camp.

While myths of other Ancient Societies were entertwined into the teachings of Christianity like "Mithras", etc., there is still much contained within the New Testament that is original to the Life and times of Jesus of Nazareth.

To mention one single book - and form a belief system off of one solitary book - is not an intelligent path - regarding any subject of your choosing.

After another 21 years of study in Spirituality I can now tell you: He is alive and well. He is available to any Mind that wishes to invite Him in and establish a Relationship with Him. For those who KNOW - His voice, his sense of humour, His patience in teaching us - through the One Mind as His channel, (as God created us) His healing powers, we know not what to say to those who have no experience - whatsoever.

I say to anyone - If you have not yet had the experience of Him in your life - never speak in terms of authority about Him. Question and learn, instead.

Thanks for your question or shall I say statement .
Well all the arguing around Jesus peace be upon him is settled in Islam ....simply he is one of the great great messenger and prophets of God and Jews tried to kill him and to crucify him so God lifts him up and puts the figure of his face on the man who betrayed him and this man was crucified.

I know this is totally different from the christian story but it makes more sense if you wanna know more about this story which it too briefly contact me on abouterachess@yahoo.com

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it.

6There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.[b]

10He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent,[c] nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,[d] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

None of these words are of any shock to me, nor do the effect my desire to serve the Lord in any way.
Infact He told us such things would come.
He preserves us and keeps us always.
We are safe in the bonds of love with Him.
