yes it is, The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus

"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you".

"Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you."
[Leviticus 11:7-8]

Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy

"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass."
[Deuteronomy 14:8]

A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

No, so there is no need to quote the bible, but just as a pointer, Christian belief is based on the books of the New Testament. The injunctions against pork are contained in the Old Testament.
Bacon butties, or bacon and eggs, the smell always brings me back when I try vegetarianism.

No. In Leviticus, a book of the Old Testament, God says not to eat certain animals, including mammals without hooves for it is an abomination. For some strange reason beyond my knowledge, Christians only seem to accept 2 other parts of the OT: The 10 commandments and the ban on homosexuality (which ironically uses the same terminology as the dietary restricitons, "abomination").

As pork, more often than not, made people ill, and because Jewish education, etc was extremely poor 2000+ years ago, they made it part of their religion to not eat it.

Over the last few hundred years scientists learned why Pork made people ill; so even if it is against a religion to not eat it, there is nothing wrong with eating it.

As Christianity is based on Judaism, then, no, Christians should not eat Pork...

Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10 And he became hungry and desired something to eat; but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance 11 and saw the heaven opened, and something descending, like a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat." 14 But Peter said, "No, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean." 15 And the voice came to him again a second time, "What God has cleansed, you must not call common." 16 (Acts 10:9-16)

This was both metaphorical and literal. God said it was OK to eat even animals previously deemed "unclean" and that it was OK for Peter to teach the good news of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles (considered unclean by Jews at the time).

There is also in the book of Matthew a place where Jesus says "it is not what you put in your body that makes you unclean, but what comes out of it" (he meant words, but I guess it works literally too, lol)

God bless you.

No, because Christians are not under the Mosaic Law, despite what LOL says. Galatians 3:19-26 makes this clear - "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made.....But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."

Anyone who argues we should still be bound by the law should also be observing the Sabbath, making weekly animal sacrifices, be travelling to Jerusalem three times a year to observe certain festivals and menstruating women should be viewed as unclean. I don't see many people doing that any more!

No it is not forbidden

Why?

Well, some christian is going to jump on me for sayingthis, but only if they cant accept the truth.

Originally, all of Jesus' followers were Jewish and therefore subject to jewish laws, including keeping kosher.

BUT< after Jesus died, the early cristians found it extremely difficult to convert new followers because many people did not want to accept the strict jewish laws that the early christians followed (That Jesus insisted on following).

The early Christians found themselves in a quandry. They believed they needed to convert everyone to follow Jesus, but found that people were willing to accept jesus, but not the jewish laws.

so, they threw some of those laws out. The first two they threw out were the need to become cercumsized (not hard to understand why grown men objected to this one :o) ) and they also got rid of the laws on keeping kosher, as it required people to completely change their dietary habits and livelyhoods (pig farmers).

Many of the jewish laws were thrown out in order to make christianity more appealing to the mass public.

So, because it was decided by the Christian leaders that it was O.K. not to keep kosher, there is no longer a prohibition on this.

Interestingly, MANY of the jewish traditions and laws still remain - Including covering your head in a church - ever notice how priests have their head covered?

Also, the reinments that many wear, are from judaism, including the Talis, which is a large closh worn ob\ver the shoulders.

no pork is not forbidden..actually no food is forbidden for a christian because Jesus declared all food clean. Matt 7:19 19 For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")
