I am sorry that you lost your buddy. I lost mine in 2004. I had Lady for 11 years. She was a terrier mix. I buried her in one of her favorite places in my yard.
I think that a good place for your dog would be on the top of the hill at that lake he liked to go so much.

Was there a particular place at the lake where he liked to dig and maybe bury toys or bones? That might be a good place because this time you can dig for him and he will rest peacefully there where he hid his favorite stuff. Sorry for your loss.

You might want to check with your local municipality. Some have laws against burying large mammals (a lab would qualify). They have a service to have pets cremated for minimal. My neighbor recently did this for her dog after he was put down. Sorry for your loss.

If it's not too late maybe have it cremated and scatter the ashes where he loves to run and play, then just have the urn as a memorial.
Sorry to hear about the loss of a beloved pet.

You can get your dog cremated then either keep the ashes in a urn in a special place in your home or spread the ashes to the wind in the area your dog loved so much to run and play. sorry for your loss

Over the years I've lost my pets to age and cancers. I never wanted to bury them in my yard in case one day I had to move. In my area there is a pet cemetary. I had them creamated and their ashes spread in the cemetary. It is not terribly expensive, and it put my mind at ease that they were where they should be. Maybe you can ask your vet about that in your area. my heart goes out to you.

My boss cremates all her animals and puts them in urns. If two of the animals got along really well, she'll put their ashes together in the same urn.
I'm sorry for your loss. Just remember he's feeling better now.
