You may have a firewall on your machine that is blocking access to those programs. This is likely the cause if you're using Norton Internet Security or something similar.

First off, I would ask if you are connecting? If you're using Limewire, it should say "Connected" somewhere in the window. If you're connecting, then a firewall is not the problem.

When using P2P software such as Limewire, Ares, Grokster ... whatever ... a lot of times it's not just, 'Search' > 'Click' > 'Download'. Whenever you try to download something, you're actually connecting to another user somewhere else on the internet. Those users may be maxxed out on people attempting to download from them, so your download may not begin instantaneously.

If you are indeed connecting, this may be your problem. If you are not connecting, like I said, make sure that you firewall or antivirus software is allowing you to connect to the network that Limewire accesses in order to work.

Also, just as a note, you may not want to post on Yahoo!, a nationally monitored website, that you're attempting to download movies illegally. That's a good way to get the Fed's knocking on your door with handcuffs in hand. A little extreme, I know, but it has happened.

I have no idea with limewire. But if you can't get something as popular as "pirates of the caribbean 2" fast with bittorrent, the problem is definitely at your side.

You should definitely have DSL or cable to use bittorrent. Having an even faster connection, means you'll be able to download stuff even faster. A popular torrent will always saturate _your_ connection when your end is configured properly. As opposed to other file-sharing programs, you don't have to wait for any slow peers, as you download from all of them at the same time!

Make sure your firewall is configured properly. Try to google for your particular firewall and "bittorrent".

Limewire and Bit Torrent may not work if you have an active firewall. Disable this and then try and connect. Faster speeds are best , though download speeds are often limited depending where the file is hosted and with Bit Torrent, how many seeds are available.

Downloading copyright material is illegal and should be discouraged

Just a reminder that downloading copyright stuff could get you into trouble...

That being said, Shareaza is a great P2P program (www.shareaza.com) and it also can manage torrent files if setup properly...you should check it out.

Be sure to turn on advanced (or power) mode either during install or after its in there, and then go to the preferences, and then NETWORKS section and make sure its set to connect to all the networks available. Its a very powerful program with a ton of features.

You need the torrent origination file...You cannot search with these clients. You need to download the torrent from a search engine. try demonoid.com (if it's still working)
