doctrine is a fundimental beliefe. Like Jesus is the son of God and the only way to the Father. that is doctrine, and usually there are only a few, and very on small details (within true Christianity, like baptist, methodest, lutherens, church of christ, now don't get this confused with chatholsism, or mormonism, or the JWs, that is completely differnt). So in other words, doctrine is the core values of the religion.

For Catholic Christians, a doctrine is a teaching of the church. It carries a lot of weight, but not as much weight as a dogma which is "now understood to be a truth appertaining to faith or morals, revealed by God, transmitted from the Apostles in the Scriptures or by tradition, and proposed by the Church for the acceptance of the faithful." (see second link) Doctrines are man-made laws and not considered to be God's truth revealed by God. They are often presented in a teaching document such as an encyclical (letter from the Pope) or a catechism (book of teachings approved by a Bishop).

doctrine : a set of beliefs.

sometimes written down, sometimes not.

that's why there are so many different denominations...they each have a slightly different set of beliefs, doctrines.

you'll find as many different doctrines based on the same bible as you will find different people.

denominations have different doctrines. I, as a non denominational christian, choose to follow the bible and not a denomination's set of rules that are unbiblical

"a code of beliefs", "a body of teachings" or "instructions", taught principles or positions, as the body of teachings in a branch of knowledge or belief system

Its basically what is at the core of religious denominations, Cathilocs have their own, Mormons, their own, so on and so forth.
