I've only every owned PC/Windows. But I'm in need of a new laptop, and I won't need to do anything advance on it (IT related stuff). I just want a quick, convienient laptop that is stable and that I will *like*. I keep reading on Apple forums that OSX-10.5 will be a better O/S than MS, but I don't know if that is just Mac Addicts being self-agrandizing. Does anyone know which will be a better O/S?

Mac OS X is already far better that Windows. All reviews I have read state the same, not just from Apple. I was a windows user for almost 10 years before I got my MAC. I love it.

I haven't used Vista, but I have had the misfortune of using XP/2000/ME; OS X is a pleasure -- far and away more advanced. Apple has a fantastic operating system with great graphical and search capabilities. I cannot imagine M$ coming even close to OS X.

Today, OS 10.4 (Tiger) has built-in support for PDF creation, a fully 3D accelerated windowing engine, UNIX support, indexed hard drives (meaning you can search for documents and within document in a couple of seconds, not minutes), and more. 10.5 will be another refinement with nice features, but the operating system is plenty mature. Apple will continue to update the operating system yearly, whereas Vista is already 2 years overdue (XP is 5 years old).
