he will walk right up to my best friend, put his hands on his hips and say "How ya doin' sexy?" He picked this up from his uncle. He starts kindergarten on Monday. I don't need an irate phone call from a teacher. Please give some advice.

It's a phase. i know from experience. i have two nephews. they went through many phases. pulling hair, biting, screaming, slapping. so there you go.

1. wash the uncle's mouth out with soap...
2. keep him away from your son if he can't stop the vile language
3. explain to your son that acting like is not funny and hurts peoples feelings. offer a suggestion like " I really like your new blouse', or 'you look really pretty today'.
4. tell him that a nice young man would never try to make a girl feel uncomfortable.
5. give him a hug and tell him how proud you are of him for growing up to be a nice young man.

Tell your Uncle to watch what he says around the kid. And, Have your Uncle talk to your son and explain that he can't go around saying what Uncle says.
My boyfriend's son used to call other women "B***H", he got if from his grandmother, who would call the child's mother this. He was going on 4 and fixing to start school, so I had his grandmother explain to him, that he could not go around calling woman that word. He stopped right then and there!

Tell him that "sexy" is a bad word, and that it means you want to kiss the person you said it to. Since he's far away from puberty, the thought of kissing someone of the opposite sex will freak him out for a long time. This will prevent him from saying it for a long time.

If he has done it one time, no need to get panicky. Sometimes they forget in a couple of days unless you repeat it in front of him or laugh at it (he will think it's funny and repeat it). So keep him away from that uncle.
But if he repeats it, sit down and explain that it is considered ill-mannered to say that. If he doesn't listen, I would think you may need to warn the teacher beforehand - sometimes the kids listen better to a person of authority than they do to parents!

no offense...but i just laughed and smiled when i read your question....anyway tell him that you can't say that and you'd get in a lot of trouble.....also talk with the uncle and have him talk with the kid....that way the uncle stops "influencing the kid" and the kid realizes what he's doing is wrong
you might want to warn the teacher and principal that the problem may occur......just so they aren't surprised or anything

He's 5...he doesn't know what sexy means. Just tell him that it is something that he shouldn't say and people will get mad at him for using that word

People have obviously encouraged this behavior. He knows that those around him think it's cute.
I would tell him that while many may find it funny, it might hurt someone's feelings. Therefore, he isn't allowed to say it.

bribe him " if you stop saying that word i'll give you (favorite toy or food)"You better stop it or your gonna go to your room" or if that does'nt work break it down for him slowly " that word is not meant for kids blah blah blah" you can think of some other ways can't you or if that doesn't work put him in time out or spank him"
