Hi there...consider using a free online classified service such as Craigslist. http://www.craigslist.org. It's free to list and use the service. Select your state/city from the main page and post for a low fee (like $15-30) rather than for free. The reason is that many people have found there unsavoury people who take free animals to use either as research or as bait for their dogs or even worse, which is very upsetting. Request that you would like to conduct a couple follow up home visit inspections months apart so you know your kitty will not be abused or sold to someone else as well.

I would say try not to be in a hurry. How bad are the allergies?
Because a lot of animals are given up for not having the time to give attention to them - I considered doing that with my guinea pigs. Then I realised, no one has much time anymore, and I take care of them better than anyone else would. I just give them all I can and they still have a pretty good life.
So if the allergies are controllable, just start taking meds.
But if you still have to give her up, then I would say take your time. My mom recently adopted two older cats because her dog died. You've just got to put the word out there that she's available. Perhaps an older person would be interested in your cat, maybe put up flyers at a senior center?
Best of luck.

Advertise, advertise, advertise. Make flyers and put them on every vet's bulletin board. Put them in the supermarket. Put them in the pet stores. Sent your kids to school with the flyers to pass around to other students & teachers. Advertise at work. Ask around. And try to be patient and make sure you're making a good, permanent placement. If you want to have better luck with the no-kill adoption/shelter organizations, tell them you are willing to foster the cat until a home can be found. That way they do not have to worry about space in their shelter, but will use all their available means to find a home for your kitty. I don't know where you live, but PAWS is an excellent example of a no-kill shelter that will readily accept a pet for placement if you provide it with a foster home.

What you probably want to do is put an add in the paper, and make sure you include your phone number. If someone trys to call you need to make sure this is the right home for your cat. Ask yourself does this person have resposibiliteys can they take good care of her and give her as much attention as she should need. Sence your the owner you should know what is or what isen't right. Well good luck trying to find her the right home. If you can't find a home ask your docter for allergie medication GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

It depends on how much you want to keep her. If you really want to I suggest you go to the allergist and get shots. Otherwise I suggest you find a close friend or family member to take her. If you take her to the Humane Society they will put her down if a home is not found for her. :(

Look for a no-kill shelter to take her to if you can't live with the allergies. Keep her if you possibly can, wash her, use sprays like Fabreeze allery reducer on furnature and rugs. Talk to your Vet about the options, they may know of someplace or someone who will take her.

I've always been very very allergic to cats.
But because I love them, I've built up a tollerance for them.
My one cat Archie, is a little bundle of kitty love, even though he's dumb as a post.
I still have the occasional sneeze, or runny itchy eyes,... which is a small price to pay, for his companionship, his affection, and his loyalty.
I love to hold him up to the side of my head, just listening to his little motor (when he lets me).

Sounds like your only hope is to find a friend or co-worker. You might find someone through a newspaper ad. There are so many kittens now and unfortunately her chances are not very good.

Check in with your vet and see if there is any wants for an older kitty or you can try the PetSmart adopition program they have and see if your cat falls into their program.
