Tenzo0 is the only person who is correct. You all have never had to remove skunk before as I did or you would know that tomato juice in any form does nothing. Nada. Zip. And even using the correct formula eliminates alot of the problem, but the smell still lingers for months.

1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide
¼ cup of baking soda
1 – 2 teaspoons of liquid soap
…and for large pets you can add 1 quart of lukewarm water
Mix all of the ingredients in a large bucket and thoroughly work the mixture into the pet's fur. It may be necessary to allow the solution to sit for about 5 minutes to ensure the best results. It is very important that you be extremely careful in keeping the solution out of the pet's eyes, and that the animal not be allowed to lick itself during the bath. To de-scent the facial area, use a washcloth dipped into the solution and carefully clean around those sensitive areas. After the solution has set into the fur, rinse the animal thoroughly. Remember that nothing works perfectly for skunk scents and it may be necessary to repeat the process until the smell has dissipated.

Tomato juice never worked for us.
Go get a giant bottle of hydrogen peroxide solution (costs like $2) and a giant box of baking soda ($1.50) and mix them together with a little dish liquid. Rub into your dog's coat, let it sit for a bit, then rinse out. Just be careful of his eyes and mouth, you don't want to get any of this mixture in there.

I'm not really sure. It may stain the coat though. And don't let the dog lick the tomato juice if you do use it. Tomatoes are toxic to dogs.

Some say tomato juice gets rid of the smell....perhaps you could give him a bath after using this. Otherwise I can only say to let it ware off.

use tomato juice. And for the record tomatos are not toxic to dogs, the leaves and stems from the plant are toxic to dogs. So don't worry about him eating the tomato juice.

My Gparents (1897-1982, 1904-1989) come from the hills of Tennesee, and they recommend tomato juice without the seed or the liquid surrounding the seeds.
FYI: To remove pine (ponderosa) tree sap from your hands, use milk (this one I DO use, and it works).

Tomato juice, let the coat dry. Brush it out and then rewash with regular dog shampoo.

Well if you have ketchup at home use it. I remember my family's jack russell always getting "Skunked", and we used ketchup everytime. He was a white dog so he was pink for a few days but it worked great.

I've heard tomato juice works. However it will stain the tub and dog.
